The AC& R Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance and trouble-shooting of industrial HVAC equipment such as boilers and chillers (light commercial units). This job requires theoretical knowledge of air conditioning and the production of chilled water, as well as practical mechanical and electrical understanding.

Summary:
The AC& R Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance and trouble-shooting of industrial HVAC equipment such as boilers and chillers (light commercial units). This job requires theoretical knowledge of air conditioning and the production of chilled water, as well as practical mechanical and electrical understanding.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates and performs inspections on AC& R systems and components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance.
- Performs installations of AC& R equipment and systems and monitors repairs on systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.).
- Coordinates with AC& R Lead and/or Trade Shop Supervisor in completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in HAC& R systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
- Tracks performance of routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the availability of AC& R systems.
- Prepares written reports (work order status, activity logs, etc.) for documenting activities and/or conveying information.
- Requests equipment and supplies to maintain correct inventory amounts and ensure availability of items required to complete installations and/or repairs.
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
Education & Experience:
- Must have a minimum eight (8) years' experience as a AC& R Journeyman Technician.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Must possess HVAC Universal Certification, EPA Clean Air Act Section 608.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Must have knowledge of Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC) and their components.
- Must have an excellent understanding of all safety directives and polices regarding the operation of equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance is required.
