Overview

We are seeking a full time Aviation Simulation Systems Engineer 2 for our Aviation Systems team based in Olathe, KS. In this role, you'll support successful conception, development and/or application of sophisticated avionics systems by providing system support for complex integrated flight deck programs and/or retrofit product lines for simulation environments.

Essential Functions
  • Develops improvements to data packages delivered to simulator companies
  • Provides troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause within a simulated system environment
  • Supports troubleshooting of issues reported by simulation companies
  • Identifies improvements and modifies tools for use in system simulation solutions
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Maintains tracking of simulator system integration issues and related project management skills to coordinate solutions across engineering teams
  • Works collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals
  • Applies a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
  • Applies Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibits a desire to see Garmin succeed
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or another related technical field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in one or more of the following technical areas: Systems Integration, System Safety, System Requirements, System Security
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with other
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in an Engineering field
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)
  • Relevant experience and/or training in an applicable high-level software programming language
  • 5+ years of relevant experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description,
  • Pilot's License, and/or demonstrated knowledge of Garmin's aviation product lines and customer needs are also desirable skills.
  • Prior experience with simulator design or qualification
