Job Description:

Accounts Payable Director

Accounts Payable Director is a professional who is responsible for working in and overseeing the accounts payable department of the organization. The Accounts Payable Director is responsible for ensuring that invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner as funds are allocated daily and/or weekly and requires a very strategic focus on managing which vendors to pay and when. Efficient planning and forecasting is a critical function as Epiq actively manages payment outflows.

The Accounts Payable Director is accountable for managing the accounts payable staff, ensuring that all staff members are properly trained and that all departmental procedures and controls are followed. The Accounts Payable Director is also responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts, maintaining relationships with internal business areas and external vendors.

The ideal candidate for the Accounts Payable Director position should have a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, as well as several years of experience in accounts payable. The candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure.

Description:

  • Hands-on management and oversight of the accounts payable department and ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports
  • Own the corporate card programs acting as administrator and managing policies
  • Develop and maintain accounts payable policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations
  • Monitor and analyze accounts payable processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, accounting and finance, to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices
  • Work in close partnership with Procurement to transition invoicing and pay terms upon closing renewals and new contracts while also partnering on open invoices needing purchase orders or other open items – manage lifecyle relations with vendors
  • Proactively Manage vendor relationships and resolve any issues or disputes related to payments or invoices
  • Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, including aging reports, cash flow need projections, and vendor performance metrics (other KPIs/metrics)
  • Train and develop accounts payable staff, including setting performance goals and conducting performance evaluations
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes for accounts payable
  • Partner with Accounting on monthly close process
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide visibility on vendor invoice payment timings and proactively manage relationships
  • Partner with Tax on invoice payments and whether sales tax is to be paid
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation and support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounts payable or related field
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (SAP/S4Hana)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience in managing a team of accounts payable professionals
  • Experience in process improvement and implementing best practices
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations
  • Professional certification such as Certified Accounts Payable Associate (CAPA) or Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) is a plus

The Compensation range for this role is $135, 000 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus.
