Your Role: Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist

As an HSE Specialist, you will be a key leader in driving site-wide Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a strong safety culture. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining HSE programs across diverse operations, from Bioprocessing to Warehousing.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE procedures and programs in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and hazardous materials management.
  • Coordinate and provide HSE training and awareness initiatives across all departments.
  • Champion a Safety First, Quality Always mindset throughout the organization and stay current with industry standards.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably cGMP, biotech, or pharmaceutical).
  • Top 2 skills: Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements; Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or similar management systems.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication with leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing waste disposal, recycling, and pollution prevention programs.

Additional Information:

  • Travel: Minimal (estimated 5-10% annually), primarily to other Elanco sites within the U.S.
  • Location: Onsite role based in Elwood, KS. Occasional evening and weekend support may be required.
