WHAT YOU'LL DO

This internship will be for Summer 2026. The Information Security Intern will expand their AI and cybersecurity knowledge while contributing to the mission of protecting our customer-facing AI products, in-house developed and vendor-provided AI tools. Through document creation, process development, and hands on testing, the intern will have the opportunity to work with the AI engineering, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams to integrate AI security into the broader enterprise security program.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office location.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME

• Learning about various AI technologies in use at Ascend Learning.
• Expanding your knowledge of AI specific cybersecurity attacks.
• Building documentation that supports the AI Cybersecurity Program.
• Developing and executing test cases to assist in the identification vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a computer related field
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and AI specific threats.
• Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, etc…
• Hands on experience with software development, software quality engineering, infrastructure engineering, or data engineering.
• Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to participate in collaborative development projects
• Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to translate a business scenario into a technical solution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
