The Role: FG Test Engineer (Final Test Engineer)

The FG Test Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing final test processes to ensure product quality, reliability, and cost efficiency. This role includes ownership of test risk assessment through TFMEA creation and active participation in PFMEA analysis to drive robust manufacturing processes.

What will you do?

1. Test Process Development & Optimization
  • Develop, validate, and release final test programs, methodologies, and procedures
  • Optimize test coverage, test time, and multisite efficiency
  • Perform correlation between engineering and production test setups
  • Troubleshoot tester, hardware, and software-related issues
  • Maintain test documentation, specifications, and SOPs
2. Yield & Quality Improvement
  • Monitor and analyze test yield performance and identify yield loss trends
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and robustness
3. New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Support NPI activities including test bring-up, characterization, and qualification
  • Ensure smooth handoff from engineering to production
  • Generate and maintain test documentation and specifications
4. FMEA Ownership & Risk Management
  • Create and maintain Test FMEA (TFMEA) to identify and mitigate test-related risks such as test escapes, overkill, and coverage gaps
  • Analyze and contribute to Process FMEA (PFMEA) to ensure test process risks are well understood and controlled
  • Define detection controls and prevention actions to improve product quality and minimize customer risk
  • Drive continuous improvement based on FMEA findings and lessons learned
5. Cost & Efficiency Improvement
  • Drive test time reduction and cost of test optimization
  • Improve test efficiency (multisite, parallelism, handler optimization)
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives
What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering or related field
  • 2-5 years in electronics test engineering
  • Experience in final test and high-volume manufacturing preferred
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, including PLC, Drives, and HMI architectures
  • Hands-on experience with PLC platforms and familiarity with PLC programming languages
  • Experience in testing and validation of industrial drives (VFD, servo drives, motion control systems) and understanding of motor control principles, power electronics, and drive performance validation
  • Knowledge of HMI interface testing, usability validation, and communication diagnostics
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols:
    • Modbus (RTU/TCP)
    • Profinet / Profibus
    • EtherCAT / Ethernet/IP
    • OPC UA
  • Experience in system-level testing and integration (PLC + Drive + HMI end-to-end validation)
  • Experience working with test benches, signal interfaces, and automation validation setups
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in:
    • Control logic issues
    • Communication failures
    • Hardware/software integration problems
  • Programming/scripting knowledge (NI Teststand, Labview, Python, #, C/C++, or automation scripting tools) for test automation and data logging
