Job Description
Schneider Electric is hiring a Specialist, Technical Communications in Bangalore, KA. This is a full-time position.
Schneider Electric powers the systems behind smart homes, resilient buildings, sustainable data centres, and the industries that keep the world running. As Lead Technical Writer, you won't just document our products - you'll be the bridge between deep engineering complexity and the millions of customers who rely on that work to be clear, safe, and usable.
This is a role for someone who wants both craft and influence: hands-on authoring on day one, and a seat at the table shaping documentation strategy across geographies on day two.
Why This Role Is Different
- Global scale, real ownership - you'll lead documentation planning for new products and features.
- Technical depth that matters - you'll work directly from engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and UI wireframes, translating genuine complexity into content people can trust.
- A seat in the room - regular collaboration with engineering, product management, UI/UX, product & software development, test teams, and marketing across time zones.
- Mentorship with impact - guide and grow a team of technical writers, setting the bar for structure, clarity, and standardization.
- Modern tooling, real innovation space - DITA, Arbortext, enterprise CMS, and growing scope to bring AI-assisted workflows into how the team works.
Content & Craft
- Author end-to-end documentation - installation guides, user manuals, configuration guides, system guides - for electromechanical, hardware, and software products.
- Turn schematics, wiring diagrams, wire-frames and product designs into accurate, user-focused content.
- Ensure every asset meets Schneider Electric standards and safety/regulatory and legal requirements.
Systems & Strategy
- Build and maintain modular, topic-based content in DITA.
- Drive terminology, style, taxonomy, and reuse strategy across the documentation ecosystem.
- Partner with localization teams to keep content geo-ready from the start.
Leadership & Quality
- Lead documentation planning tied to product milestones.
- Mentor writers on best practices and standardization.
- Run SME reviews, integrate documentation into Agile sprints, and publish across print and digital channels.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- A recognized technical writing certification.
- 8+ years in technical writing, including hardware + software documentation, with 3+ years leading a documentation function.
- Fluency reading schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and UI wireframes.
- Hands-on expertise in DITA, Arbortext (or equivalent XML tools), enterprise CMS, and Adobe InDesign.
- Strong written English and a track record collaborating across global, distributed teams.
- Working knowledge of localization/translation workflows.
Nice to Have
- Background in electromechanical systems or home automation.
- Experience with HTML5 responsive documentation formats.
- UX writing sensibility.
- Agile team experience.
- Curiosity or hands-on experience with AI-assisted documentation workflows.
The Opportunity Ahead
This role sits at the intersection of engineering precision and human clarity - exactly the kind of challenge that keeps senior technical writers energized. You'll have real influence over how a global brand communicates safety, usability, and trust at scale, with the mentorship, tools, and cross-functional access to make that influence count.
Bring your technical communication talent to a team that's ready to welcome you - apply now!
