Schneider Electric is hiring a Engineer I / Senior Technician I, Electromechanics / Mechanical Design in Bangalore, KA. This is a full-time position.
MISSION
The primary objective of this role is to carry out the design engineering for the development of Low Voltage (LV) Circuit Breakers and associated accessories. The role focuses on delivering innovative, cost-effective, and standards-compliant (IEC..) solutions tailored to customer-specific technical and market requirements. The candidate will be actively involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle, from concept through to production readiness.

The primary objective of this role is to carry out the design engineering for the development of Low Voltage (LV) Circuit Breakers and associated accessories. The role focuses on delivering innovative, cost-effective, and standards-compliant (IEC..) solutions tailored to customer-specific technical and market requirements. The candidate will be actively involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle, from concept through to production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop LV electrical distribution products in alignment with technical specifications and market needs.
- Lead development process including design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and manufacturing readiness.
- Utilize 3D CAD software (e.g., Pro/ENGINEER) for design feasibility studies and modeling.
- Maintain and update product documentation including drawings, BOMs, and design guidelines.
- Product release in PDM softwares
- Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling for both metallic and plastic components.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) evaluations, recommending alternative materials and production methods.
- Apply six sigma requirements like QFD, DFMEA, P-Diagram
- Manage prototype development, build, and testing activities.
- Conduct detailed engineering analysis using design fundamentals and tools (e.g., material strength, tolerance stack-up, mechanism design).
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sourcing, finance, marketing, and suppliers to ensure design validation and production readiness.
- Define & carry out product qualification as well as validation testing. Support certification testing as per IEC testing (IEC 60947) using knowledge of standard, test procedure & acceptance criteria.
- Root cause analysis in case of failure.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) preferably in Electrical Engineering or in Mechanical Engg.
- 2-5 years of experience in the design and development of low voltage electrical distribution devices / circuit breakers.
- Proficient in CAD/CAE tools (e.g., Pro/ENGINEER) and mechanism design with dimension chain analysis. Understanding of PDM system.
- Knowledge of LV circuit breakers (ACB / MCCB ). Understand subsystems & design knowledge on mechanism, current path, arcing, venting etc.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as molding, casting, and assembly, including tooling design.
- Understanding in Six Sigma & risk analysis
- Understanding of product testing as per IEC 60947. Hands on testing will be added advantage.
- Basic project management capabilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; and collaborate with global stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, analytical, and solution-oriented with a positive and persuasive approach.
