Job Title: Digital Sustainability Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Overview

The Digital Sustainability SME is a hybrid expert in sustainability and digital transformation, responsible for shaping Schneider Electric's digital sustainability strategy in alignment with the Corporate Sustainability roadmap and long-term ambitions. This role bridges technical sustainability frameworks and cutting-edge digital solutions-guiding the selection, adoption, and integration of best-in-class platforms, software, and tools to enable credible, scalable, and auditable sustainability outcomes. The SME partners with business, IT, and sustainability leaders to anticipate industry trends and steer strategic decisions on technology requirements, solution design, and future-proofing sustainability processes.

  • Shape and drive the digital sustainability strategy, aligning digital roadmaps with corporate sustainability goals and regulatory frameworks (GHG Protocol, CSRD/ESRS, IFRS S1/S2, GRI, SBTi).
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of digital platforms, data solutions, and software tools supporting core sustainability processes (carbon accounting, supplier engagement, lifecycle analysis, reporting, and decarbonization).
  • Serve as the primary interface between business sustainability teams and IT/digital functions to translate sustainability requirements into actionable technology solutions and recommendations.
What will make you successful:
  • 10+ years in IT, digital transformation, or sustainability technology, with 4+ years in sustainability, ESG, or decarbonization roles.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing digital platforms or software supporting sustainability and ESG.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or global organizations is preferred.
  • Professional certifications in sustainability, digital transformation, or enterprise technology are a plus.

  • Drive continuous improvement in digital workflows and end-user experience for sustainability data management and analytics.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, operations, finance, and external partners to embed sustainability and digital thinking into business-as-usual.
  • Ensure audit readiness, data security, and compliance through robust digital governance and controls.
  • Champion a culture of digital innovation and sustainability, coaching team members and stakeholders on new tools and trends.

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and digital best practices, proactively advising on opportunities to strengthen the sustainability technology stack.
  • Define sustainability data architecture, integration, validation, and quality checkpoints across systems and platforms.
  • Support Scope 1-3 measurement methodologies, supplier and product-level data capture, and automation of reporting processes

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability standards and digital solutions (GHG Protocol, ESG frameworks, LCA/PCF, data platforms, analytics tools).
  • Hands-on experience with digital sustainability platforms (e.g., carbon management software, ESG data platforms, workflow automation, analytics/BI tools).
  • Proven ability to design, implement, or optimize digital workflows for sustainability data, reporting, and analytics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to distil complex requirements into practical digital solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to influence across business, IT, and sustainability domains.
