What you will do In the Architecture team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing architectures tailored to the Quality, Health and Safety domain. You will contribute to the KTD roadmap in partnership with product owners, helping to maintain cutting-edge technological approaches within your functional scope. In addition to designing solutions, you will assess and optimize both application and data architectures to ensure they are efficient, agile, and cost-effective. You will continually identify and validate opportunities for the rationalization, consolidation, or modernization of technologies within the functions you support.
A key aspect of your role will involve defining and designing application interfaces, balancing user experience, integration feasibility, and scalability. Collaboration will be essential; you will work closely with Product Quality, Compliance, Health and Safety, Tech and Data and external vendors to ensure that system designs align with business objectives and user requirements.
To communicate your architecture decisions and strategies effectively, you will create technical collateral, including C4 models, ADR, UML, ER diagrams, pipeline charts, and other relevant articles or guides. You will provide participative consulting throughout the lifecycle of projects you manage, offering guidance on emerging technologies and practices.
Upholding our commitment to security, you will ensure that all architectures meet the highest standards, particularly regarding data protection and compliance. Furthermore, your role will extend beyond individual contributions; you will mentor and guide Tech and Data teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Major Duties & Responsibilities As the Principle Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for creating and proposing holistic solutions that meet the requirements provided. Your role will involve several key responsibilities:
- Technical Component Selection: You will identify, choose, and define the appropriate technical components and the interfaces between them to effectively support business processes.
- Data Management: You will determine what data will be consumed, created, stored, or published as part of the proposed solution, ensuring that the data flow is optimized for the intended outcomes.
- Scalability and Non-Functional Requirements: You will assess how the solution will scale and ensure it meets all required non-functional requirements, such as performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Security and Compliance: You will establish how the solution will be secured and compliant with relevant regulations, ensuring that data protection is prioritized throughout the architecture.
In addition to these core responsibilities, you will take ownership of driving key technical decisions in collaboration with engineers, setting standards, and ensuring alignment among team members. Your expertise in a wide range of design patterns will enable you to apply the most appropriate solutions.
You will create various models and diagrams-such as data flows, service/API flows, and roadmaps-to illustrate your solutions clearly. Communicating the solution's purpose, expected outcomes, and mechanisms will be crucial to your role. You will also analyze trade-offs to help identify and manage any technical debt associated with the solution.
In essence, your role will be integral in not only crafting effective solutions but also in fostering collaboration and innovation across teams, ultimately driving the success of the organization.
Required Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Info Tech, Cloud Engineering or a related Engineering field.
- 12 years' experience in enterprise tech, with 5 years expertise in developing architecture principles and practices.
- Experience with industry standard Manufacturing MES, Quality Event Management, ERP's, LIMS systems ( e.g. ETQ, Veeva, OpenText, Labware LIMS, SAP ECC & S4) is essential.
- Experience with GxP Enterprise technology platforms that are validated in Life sciences or CPG industry's is an advantage
- Strong architectural skills in Cloud-Native (Azure and AWS), Serverless and Lakehouse solutions, with demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable microservices and event-driven architectures.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with agile ways of working, principles, and methodologies (SAFe, Kanban, Scrum, Design Thinking)
- Advanced skills in using C4, UML, SysML, ArchiMate, BPMN or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a flair for communicating across diverse teams.
