What you will do

The Senior SAP Basis Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of SAP systems and landscapes. This role involves leading system design, optimizing performance, and ensuring the reliability of SAP environments. The Senior SAP Basis Engineer also collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. SAP System Administration and Architecture:

• Design and implement complex SAP landscapes, including S/4HANA, ECC, BW, CRM, and other SAP modules.

• Manage system upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.

• Oversee system performance, scalability, and reliability.

2. Database and System Performance Optimization:

• Manage SAP databases (HANA, Oracle, or SQL Server) and ensure optimal performance.

• Conduct capacity planning, system tuning, and performance optimization.

3. Security and Compliance:

• Implement and monitor SAP security measures, including user roles, profiles, and authorizations.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as GDPR, SOX, and internal IT policies.

• Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments.

4. System Monitoring and Maintenance:

• Proactively monitor SAP systems using tools like SAP Solution Manager, EarlyWatch, or third-party monitoring tools.

• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and business continuity.

5. Technical Leadership:

• Lead SAP Basis projects, such as system upgrades, OS/DB migrations, and cloud migrations.

• Develop and enforce best practices for SAP Basis operations.

6. Integration and Automation:

• Support integration between SAP systems and third-party tools.

• Implement automation scripts for routine Basis tasks using tools like Ansible or custom scripts.

7. Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with functional, development, and infrastructure teams to resolve issues.

• Provide technical expertise for SAP projects and business initiatives.

• Handle high-priority incidents and complex troubleshooting.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for system configurations, processes, and operational procedures.

• Provide regular status updates, performance reports, and risk assessments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• 8 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration, with exposure to various SAP modules.

• Experience managing complex SAP landscapes in on-premise, hybrid, or cloud environments.

• Proficiency in SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP BW, NLS and traditional SAP systems.

• Strong knowledge of database administration (HANA, Oracle, SQL Server).

• Experience with OS platforms like Linux, UNIX, and Windows.

• Expertise in SAP Solution Manager and other monitoring tools.

• Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS) and SAP solutions on AWS

• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell).

• You should have participated in a minimum of 3-4 implementations of SAP systems

• Must have done 3-4 SAP system migrations .

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Effective communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

• Migration to S/4HANA or SAP cloud solutions.

• SAP Fiori and SAP Web Dispatcher configuration.

• Working in Agile or DevOps environments.
