Position Overview

We are looking for a System Administrator AS400 (IBM iSeries) with 6-8 years of experience in managing and optimizing IBM iSeries environments, including providing support for JD Edwards (JDE), CREATE FORM OUTQ, and manufacturing applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background and the ability to manage and troubleshoot complex systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administer, configure, and maintain AS400 (IBM iSeries) systems to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Provide support for JD Edwards (JDE) environments, including managing JDE EnterpriseOne modules on AS400, troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and coordinating upgrades and patches.
• Perform regular Robot Maintenance to ensure that batch jobs and automated processes run as expected without interruptions. Address any issues related to Robot job schedules and system tasks.
• Apply patches and updates to the AS400 operating system and applications, ensuring that the system remains secure and up to date with the latest enhancements and fixes.
• Develop, maintain, and execute AS400 scripts to automate routine tasks, system monitoring, backups, and other administrative activities.
• Support DSI mobile and warehouse management applications, ensuring seamless integration with AS400 and other enterprise systems.
• Configure and manage CREATE FORM OUTQ for efficient handling of print jobs, forms, and reports generated by AS400 applications such as JDE and manufacturing-related systems.
• Manage and monitor system backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery solutions for critical applications, ensuring business continuity.
• Troubleshoot AS400 hardware and software-related issues and provide support to resolve system errors impacting business operations.
• Ensure proper security administration on AS400 systems, including managing user profiles, permissions, and access control.
• Provide hands-on support for manufacturing-related applications, including integrating with systems like JDE, Salesforce, etc. for supply chain, inventory, and production processes.
• Analyze system performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective actions to ensure optimal system performance.
• Ensure seamless communication between AS400 and other business applications, ensuring smooth data flow and integration for business processes such as procurement, inventory management, and manufacturing.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps to ensure smooth operations and support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including JDE and DSI support teams, to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of applications in a business-critical environment.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6-8 years of hands-on experience in managing IBM iSeries (AS400) systems, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Bachelor's degree / MCA from a recognized university.
• Strong experience in Robot Scheduler maintenance, job management, and troubleshooting of automated job workflows.
• Proven experience in applying patches and updates to the AS400 environment, ensuring systems are up-to-date and secure.
• Expertise in developing and maintaining AS400 scripts (in CL, REXX, or SQL) to automate administrative tasks and improve system efficiency.
• Experience with JD Edwards (JDE), including system configuration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and batch job management.
• Solid experience with DSI mobile applications and warehouse management systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation with AS400.
• Proficiency in managing CREATE FORM OUTQ for handling print output and reports in an AS400 environment.
• Strong background in DB2/400, SQL, and system performance tuning.
• In-depth knowledge of AS400 system security, including user profile management, authority levels, and access control.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, particularly related to AS400 hardware and software issues.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of IBM iSeries clustering or high-availability configurations is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud integration and hybrid environments is desirable.
• Experience in supporting manufacturing execution systems or related applications on AS400.
