Position Summary:

This role is responsible for the day-to-day execution of data governance, data quality, and metadata management activities across the enterprise. Also, ensures that critical data is accurate, consistent, well-defined, and properly maintained. The Data Steward works closely with data owners, analysts, IT teams, and the Data Governance Manager to support enterprise data standards and enable analytics, automation, and AI initiative.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Data Quality Management
  • Monitor data quality for assigned domains (Customer, Product, Pricing, Orders, Finance, etc.).
  • Run data quality checks, identify anomalies, and escalate issues to the Data Lead.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate remediation with business and IT teams.
  • Maintain data quality scorecards and track improvements.

2. Metadata, Definitions & Documentation
  • Maintain the business glossary, data dictionary, and metadata repositories.
  • Ensure definitions, rules, and transformations are documented and updated.
  • Support alignment of definitions across BUs and corporate functions.
  • Document lineage and data flows as directed.

3. Governance Operations
  • Execute governance workflows (issue logging, change requests, approvals).
  • Support quarterly access recertification and compliance checks.
  • Ensure adherence to data policies, naming conventions, and standards.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the Data Governance Council.

4. Stewardship Across BUs & Functions
  • Act as the first point of contact for data questions and clarifications.
  • Coordinate with data owners and analysts across BUs to ensure consistent usage of governed data.
  • Support harmonization of KPIs, metrics, and definitions.
  • Help enforce "one version of the truth" for critical datasets.

5. Support for Analytics, Reporting & AI Readiness
  • Validate data used in dashboards, reports, and models.
  • Support the Analytics CoE with data preparation and documentation.
  • Assist in preparing datasets for automation and AI initiatives.
  • Ensure governed data is available and ready for consumption.

Position Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Commerce, or related fields.
  • Strong academic grounding in data concepts, databases, or analytics.

Experience:
  • 3-5+ years in data stewardship, data quality, data management.
  • Experience working with ERP/CRM/BI systems.
  • Strong documentation and process discipline.
  • Ability to work in a back-office model supporting U.S. time zones.

Preferred
  • Experience in a matrixed, multi-BU environment.
  • Exposure to governance tools (Purview, Collibra, Alation).
  • Basic SQL or data analysis skills.
  • Experience supporting global teams.

Certification / License (Preferred):
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300)
  • Tableau Desktop Specialist
  • SQL certification (Oracle, Microsoft, or equivalent)
  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or AWS Cloud Practitioner
  • Google Data Analytics
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, and basic SQL for data validation
  • Experience with ERP/CRM/BI tools and familiarity with data governance platforms
  • Ability to document data definitions, business rules, and maintain data dictionaries with high accuracy
  • Clear communication skills to work with U.S.-based leaders and coordinate across multiple business units and functions
  • Strong process discipline, attention to detail, and ability to follow structured governance workflows in a global back-office environment
