Position Summary: The Cryogenic Systems Installation Superintendent leads and manages the installation, commissioning, and reliability of bulk liquid and gaseous O₂, N₂, Ar, H₂, and CO₂ supply systems across a 13-state region. This role oversees the Installation and Regional Tank Refurbishment teams in East Chicago, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all technical service and installation activities. This position applies advanced engineering expertise, operational leadership, and strong project management capability to ensure the safe, reliable, and uninterrupted delivery of industrial and medical gases to both internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy: - Execute organizational priorities, plans, and objectives across installation and refurbishment operations. - Lead, develop, and manage multi-disciplinary teams including project managers, materials coordinators, installation technicians, and refurbishment personnel. - Establish team priorities and allocate resources to ensure timely project completion and high-quality service delivery. Safety, Quality & Compliance: - Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, engineering practices, and regulatory requirements. - Lead safety and quality initiatives across installation and refurbishment teams. - Maintain full compliance with Linde engineering standards, applicable codes, and industry regulations. Operations & Project Management: - Oversee the planning, installation, and commissioning of customer supply systems. - Conduct and coordinate site surveys for advanced customer installations. - Manage execution of new equipment installation projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality targets are met. - Drive reliability improvements by addressing rework issues related to equipment, processes, or installation practices. - Manage the Regional Tank & Equipment Refurbishment Shop, ensuring efficient workflow and operational excellence. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Partner with regional management, sales, logistics, and customer service engineering teams to resolve complex customer equipment issues. - Work closely with Operations, Sales, and Distribution to size, install, and commission portable tanks and vaporizer systems. - Collaborate with LGUS, COE Global Customer Service Engineering, and Regional Business Teams to apply best practices and maintain alignment with corporate standards. - Coordinate with Logistics and Distribution teams to improve product delivery performance at customer sites. Contractor & Vendor Management: - Select, qualify, and manage contractors supporting installation and tank refurbishment operations. - Ensure contractor performance meets safety, quality, and compliance expectations. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), or 5+ years of experience managing bulk field customer service or a related industry. - 3+ years of field operations experience. - 3+ years leading or managing professional engineers, maintenance personnel, or installation technicians. - 3+ years of project and construction management experience. - Deep understanding of customer service operations for N₂, O₂, Ar, H₂, and CO₂ systems. - Strong knowledge of Linde engineering standards and their practical application. - Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. - Proven knowledge of piping systems, welding & brazing standards, pressure testing, and NDT practices. - Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and leadership levels. - Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to influence and achieve results through others. - Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills. Desired Qualifications: - 3+ years of Customer Service Engineering experience with cryogenic system design and operation. - 3+ years of commercial sales experience. - CAD proficiency. - Experience with PSM, RMP, and process safety programs. - Root Cause Analysis training and facilitation experience. - Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
