Description:

The Staff Accountant will be a critical member of our operational accounting team. They will be primarily responsible for supporting cash management and the development / oversight of the company’s various receivables. This role will ensure that payments are accurately recorded, unapplied / unidentified cash is resolved promptly, and all receivable balances are properly maintained. The position requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a creative problem-solving approach, paired with clear communication, and effective collaboration across various operational teams.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
Apply incoming cash receipts accurately and timely
Research and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified payments, and payment discrepancies
Reconcile cash subledger to daily bank activity
Maintain documentation of cash application processes and adjustments for audit compliance ]
Work cross-functionally to resolve open issues in a timely manner
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities including journal entries and receivable reconciliations
Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis as needed
Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in reporting efforts
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
Experience in operational accounting close work
Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
Must have good working knowledge of US GAAP accounting
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables
Working knowledge of General Ledger Systems such as Workday preferred but not required
Experience:
1-3+ years accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
Insurance experience is a plus
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus
