Position Overview
The AVP – Accounting Policy will coordinate the technical accounting research, interpretation and implementation of new and existing U.S. GAAP accounting pronouncements. This position will be a technical accounting expert to individuals across the organization and will assist in responding to inquiries related to new transactions, corporate initiatives, new products, and application of complex accounting standards.
What You’ll Do
Perform research to interpret and provide subject matter expertise on more complex technical accounting matters and accounting estimates to ensure conformity with Company policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
Analyze complex accounting transactions such as acquisitions, investments, derivatives and hedging.
Develop and prepare periodic analytical and monitoring assessments to ensure compliance with accounting policies and guidelines. Review/approve assessments completed by the Senior Analyst – accounting policy.
Support the Corporate Controller’s Group in establishing and maintaining Company accounting and financial reporting policies. Review/approve policies completed by the Senior Analyst – accounting policy.
Communicate directly with Senior Management regarding significant accounting standard developments, conclusions reached and potential impact to the Company’s businesses.
Assist in the development of presentations to the Audit Committee.
Participate in special projects as may be assigned by the SVP – Financial Report and Policy or Chief Accounting Officer/Corporate Controller related to accounting and financial reporting matters.
Qualifications
5-7 years of related experience in public accounting or corporate technical accounting research.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, organization skills, ability to multitask and prioritize.
Ability to work in a small team environment, building and maintaining a network of contacts and coordinating with a large number of stakeholders.
CPA preferred, but not required.

Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is $85, 000.00 - $110, 000.00 along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
