Position: Guest Lecturer - Artist Teacher of French Horn

The Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College (Illinois) invites applications for a part-time guest lecturer position in French Horn beginning in August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching applied French Horn lessons and studio classes, recruitment and offering of "trial lessons, " as well as adjudicating Horn auditions and performance juries. The position starts at $60-$65/hour.

All candidates should have evidence of successful applied teaching experience and a minimum of an earned master's degree in music. Priority will be given to applicants with a record of strong teaching, accomplished performance, and Christian faith.

Position Responsibilities: Guest Lecturer - Artist Teacher of Horn

Responsibilities
  • Teach weekly horn lessons to undergraduate music majors, music minors, and/or non-majors.
  • Hold studio classes.
  • Mentor and prepare students for juries, competitions, graduate school auditions, etc.
  • Actively recruit by engaging with high school programs, youth orchestras, festivals, and clinics.
  • Coach orchestra horn.
  • Coach chamber music as needed.
  • Adjudicate performance juries and orchestra auditions.

Minimum qualifications
  • Master of Music
  • 3+ years of studio teaching experience

Preferred qualifications
  • College-level horn teaching experience
  • Doctor of Musical Arts degree
