About the role:

At Vantage, the Vice President, Head of US Healthcare Claims is responsible for the overall management and direction of the claims department in its support of the described line of business or product. The mission of the Claims team is to add creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address risks others avoid. This role reports to our Chief Claims Officer and is a remote and/or hybrid opportunity based in a Vantage office. Vantage’s US colleagues have the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions).

The base salary expectation for this role is between $225, 000 and $265, 000. The actual base salary and title for the selected candidate may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Implement claim best practices for proper and consistent claim performance, compliance and achievement of business goals.
  • Implement clear reserving standards and ensure that those standards are continually met.
  • Identify issues and trends in the portfolio; take appropriate and/or corrective action where necessary; communicate trends to underwriters, insureds and brokers as well as to other internal stakeholders such as Claims management and actuaries.
  • Identify claims with significant exposure and take a more active role coordinating a strategy for an appropriate resolution.
  • Implement and observe escalation and reporting protocols as required under appropriate circumstances for those cases which present significant potential exposure.
  • Review and approve coverage letters.
  • Review and approve large loss reports and reserves up to your established authority.
  • Regularly review claims handled by your unit.
  • Coordinate with underwriting on current and proposed policy language, accounts and potential new markets to enter.
  • Coordinate engagement with internal and external claims counsel and loss adjusters.
  • Drive the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all claim programs, metrics, processes, results and initiatives.
  • Proactively establish relationships with brokers and insureds in order to maximize the competitive advantage derived from the Claims operation.
  • Develop and manage the reputation of Vantage’s claims handling in the market.
  • Attend marketing, account renewal, and reinsurance meetings as appropriate in order to communicate our claims handling philosophy and leading position in this area.
  • Work closely with the Insurance Leadership Team to provide value-added services to our insureds that reduce our exposure to loss.
  • Liaison with Senior Leaders on significant individual claims and trends identified in the overall portfolio.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the handling and management of US Healthcare claims.
  • Significant experience in progressive positions demonstrating technical, operations, and management skills in the Claims area.
  • Experience in collaborating with an executive team.
  • Proven ability to improve organizational effectiveness as well as retain, hire, train and develop Claims professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization is essential.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Technical proficiency is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal, compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Developed problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
