About the role:

At Vantage, the Program Claims Manager is responsible for establishing and executing goals to implement the strategic vision for managing claims processed by Managing General Agents (MGA) and Third-Party Administrators (TPA). This role holds overall responsibility for the engagement and claim service outcomes delivered by our MGA and TPA partners. Key duties include leading the MGA/TPA Oversight Function, managing and overseeing third-party administrators, selecting MGAs/TPAs, auditing compliance with contractual and legal obligations, assisting with MGA/TPA contract drafting and placement, preparing special handling instructions, reporting fraud, providing training and ensuring compliance, developing workflows for accurate information exchange with MGA/TPA partners, and preparing and analyzing reports to assess MGAs/TPAs against key performance indicators and benchmarks. This position reports to the Chief Claims Officer.

The base salary expectation for this role is between $120, 000 and $145, 000. Actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher commensurate with candidate experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the performance of MGAs/TPAs engaged by the company, and responsible for effectively communicating outcomes to internal partners and senior management.
  • With input from the line of business claim leaders, determine financial authority framework for MGAs/TPA's and provide financial oversight and authority on claims matters.
  • Work closely with the underwriting team, program manager and other Vantage capabilities in the vetting and onboarding of new Programs, MGA's and TPA's.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with external and internal clients and partners, anticipating needs and immediately solving problems or concerns.
  • Visible leader directing the development and mentoring of individuals and the implementation of strategic claim handling across multiple programs involving varied and complex lines of business and claims.
  • Develop and implement MGA/TPA governance environment around claim handling protocols and procedures consistent with industry best practices and compliant with all legal and regulatory laws guiding the claim industry in all jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely, responsible, professional, and prudent handling of all claim liabilities within the assigned area.
  • Develop, assess and report on progress in execution of strategy and on measurements of outcomes including the reporting of KPIs and goal progress.
  • Collaborate with Vantage Programs & Data teams to collect appropriate monthly claim data and develop analytic tools to assess MGA/TPA performance.
  • Perform claim audits and produce reports regarding audit results.
  • Ensure the audit process satisfies regulatory requirements placed on Vantage by the State of Delaware.
  • Embed a strong customer service focus into the organization and ensure the consistent delivery of superior customer service.
  • Evaluate claims metrics to identify trends in claim activity and claim results and implement strategies to improve them.
  • Work closely with the Program Management Team to develop further metrics to measure MGA/TPA performance and related claim results and progress.
  • Communicate with Actuaries, Underwriting and senior management on significant claim activities and developments affecting company business.


Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Subject matter expertise in large commercial property and specialty lines required.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance concepts, principles, and strategies.
  • Ability to foster mutually beneficial, long-lasting relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • Litigation process and management knowledge required.
  • Ability to analyze statistical reports, identify claims trends, and communicate findings to executive leadership while developing strategies for improvement.
  • Strong leadership skills encompassing team development, goal setting, delegation, and project management.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of database management software and application software (e.g, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Effective organizational skills are required. Must be able to prioritize, handle and effectively delegate multiple assignments or projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High degree of business acumen.
  • Able to identify, analyze and develop solutions for complex claim issues.
  • Able to delegate tasks and follow up through delivery.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in Claims Leadership, Claims Management or Technical Claims Handling for TPA, Property, Casualty and/or Professional Liability Lines required.
  • Strong technical and operational claims background.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance industry, reinsurance, fronting market, MGAs, and regulatory environment.
