The HR Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting cross-functional HR initiatives and enhancing internal processes through collaboration with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), including Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, HRIS, and Learning & Development. Reporting to the Director of HR Compliance, this role serves as both a generalist and project coordinator, implementing and streamlining HR programs, policies, and systems to improve the employee experience and organizational effectiveness. This position provides day-to-day HR support with a strong focus on managing the HR inbox to assist employees with time-sensitive inquiries, while also delivering operational and administrative support in onboarding, compliance, HRIS, recognition programs, and general HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the HR email inbox and respond to employee inquiries promptly, thoroughly, and professionally.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes, ensuring timely completion of pre-employment activities (e.g., background checks, I-9s, FCRA, credentialing) and a welcoming Day One experience.
  • Serves as a liaison between employees and payroll team, providing support for payroll inquiries, timecard discrepancies, and related issues.
  • Manage and update labor law postings and required employer notifications to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Maintain HR databases, tracking tools, and systems to capture new hires, changes, separations, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Draft and distribute internal communications regarding employee changes, departmental procedures, and HR initiatives.
  • Serve as back-up for other HR processes as needed and cross-train on team functions to ensure service continuity.
  • Document workflows, standard operating procedures, and project plans to facilitate knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
  • Support the Director of HR Compliance with policy updates, audits, and initiatives driven by regulatory or organizational changes.
  • Coordinate logistics and materials for New Staff Orientation and related activities.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience, including administrative and employee support responsibilities; experience in onboarding, compliance, or HRIS is a plus.
  • Experience working with UKG or other HRIS platforms strongly preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and compliance requirements; experience in healthcare, clinical, or non-profit environments a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented with high attention to detail and integrity of work.
