Position OverviewMolex's Reliability Labs is seeking a talented and experienced Mid-Level PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) Designer to join our team as a full-time employee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PCB design and manufacturing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, procurement, and maintenance of PCBs required for Reliability testing of various interconnect solutions across the different business units throughout Molex.
Key Responsibilities- Design PCBs to facilitate testing (i.e., electrical, environmental, mechanical, temperature rise, continuity, signal integrity, etc.) in accordance with industry, customer, and/or internal specifications.
- DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly): Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly. DFM focuses on designing products to be easy and cost-effective to manufacture, while DFA emphasizes designing products in a way that makes them easy to assemble.
- Documentation: Generate comprehensive design documentation, (i.e., Gerber files, fab drawings, panelized arrays, etc.).
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, such as IPC, RoHS, and UL. Create stencil apertures and outputs using IPC standards.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Test Engineers, Project Managers, and the Reliability Lab to ensure efficient and timely project deliverables to customers.
- Fulfill component librarian duties including creation of component footprints and different PCB form factors.
- Develop, modify, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and training documentation specific to the PCB design process in the lab.
- Maintain PCB inventory in the Reliability Lab.
- Engage in knowledge sharing and coordination of select PCB design activities with the Global Engineering Services team in India.
- Manage project activities in the LIMS tool.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve design processes and methodologies. Support continuous process improvement initiatives for the PCB design team.

- Ability to work and resolve issues independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines effectively.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience: 2-3 years of experience in PCB design and layout.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in CAD software such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro PCB Editor software, or similar tools.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve design issues.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC, RoHS, and UL.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with high-speed digital and analog circuit design.
- Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity analysis.
- Experience with PCB manufacturing processes and materials.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and mechanical design tools.
For this role, we anticipate paying $90, 000- $110, 000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
