Your Job Molex is growing in the Optical Solutions Business Unit and is looking for a growth-minded person to join our team as a Director of Global Division Materials. The Global Division Materials Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuity of supply and delivering year-over-year cost savings across critical electronics categories.
This role will lead sourcing efforts and supplier strategies for components such as Fiber Optic Connectors and Adapters, cable assemblies and optical flex circuits - balancing global strategy with regional execution. The ideal candidate is a supply chain leader with deep sourcing expertise, proactive risk management capabilities, and a strong track record in cost optimization.

What You Will Do Continuity of Supply - Develop and implement risk mitigation plans for high-risk components, including dual sourcing, safety stock strategy, and supplier diversification.
- Monitor global supply constraints, lead time fluctuations, and geopolitical risks affecting electronics categories.
- Act as the escalation point for supply disruptions; collaborate with manufacturing, planning, and engineering to implement corrective actions.
- Establish and manage long-term agreements (LTAs) and consignment/VMI programs to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
Cost Optimization - Drive sourcing initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings through negotiations, value engineering, supplier consolidation, and competitive bidding.
- Perform detailed cost breakdowns and TCO (total cost of ownership) analyses to identify and execute savings opportunities.
- Partner with R& D/Engineering to influence design for cost and support alternative component qualification.
Material Sourcing & Procurement- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for raw materials and components.
- Request quotes (RFQs), negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure materials meet specifications.
- Monitor supplier performance and escalating issues as needed.
Part Number Management- Create and maintain part numbers in ERP or MRP systems.
- Ensure accurate item master data, including descriptions, units of measure, lead times, and supplier associations.
- Work with engineering to validate part specifications and alternate sources.
Vendor Setup & Management - Coordinate the setting up of new suppliers in procurement and ERP systems.
- Collect and validate vendor documentation (W-9, payment terms, banking info, certifications).
- Maintain supplier records and ensure compliance with internal policies.
Global Commodity Strategy - Own the strategic roadmap for assigned electronics commodities, aligning category plans with global supply chain and business objectives.
- Lead supplier selection and contracting processes across key spend areas, ensuring both commercial value and supply continuity.
- Leverage market intelligence and benchmarking data to proactively adapt strategies to evolving market conditions.
Regional Execution - Collaborate with regional procurement teams to localize and execute global strategies in alignment with site-level needs.
- Provide guidance on tactical sourcing decisions while maintaining overall strategic alignment.
- Support new product introductions (NPIs) and technology transitions with sourcing plans that minimize risk and cost.
Supplier Relationship Management - Lead supplier business reviews and performance evaluations with a focus on delivery reliability, cost competitiveness, and responsiveness.
- Develop strategic partnerships with key suppliers to foster innovation, agility, and long-term collaboration.
- Enforce contractual compliance and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply base.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or supply chain operations.
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings while improving or sustaining supply reliability.
- In-depth knowledge of the global electronics supply chain, including semiconductors, passives, and interconnect components.
- Strong risk management mindset with experience in crisis mitigation and proactive planning.
- Expertise in cost modeling, supplier negotiations, and contract structuring.
- Proficient in ERP and sourcing systems (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa) and Microsoft Excel for cost analysis.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.
- Demonstrated success working in a global matrix environment with regional execution requirements.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills under pressure.
What Will Put You Ahead- Experience in consumer electronics, automotive, industrial, or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
- Familiarity with global trade regulations, compliance, and ESG supplier practices.
For this role, we anticipate paying $180, 000-200, 000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
