Chiaravalle Montessori School is hiring a Assistant Teacher in Evanston, IL. This is a full-time position.
Chiaravalle Montessori is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and adaptable Assistant Teacher for the 20262027 school year. This combined full-time opportunity is available only for the 20262027 school year and consists of two separate part-time positions: a morning Floating Substitute Assistant Teacher and an afternoon Early Childhood Assistant Teacher. Morning Floating Substitute Assistant Teacher 7: 30 a.m.12: 00 p.m. The Floating Substitute Assistant Teacher provides classroom coverage for all program levels when teachers are absent and fills daily staffing gaps. This role will be prioritized to support the Toddler program first to ensure we maintain the proper coverage level. If Toddler is adequately staffed, this employee will provide substitute coverage or support in other programs or areas of the school as needed. The day begins with supporting our breakfast program before transitioning to classroom coverage and other assigned duties. Afternoon Early Childhood Assistant Teacher 12: 00 p.m.3: 00 p.m. The afternoon assignment provides consistent support to our Early Childhood program, serving children ages 36, primarily through supervision and assistance in the EC nap room, including rest routines and transitions. Important: These two separate part-time positions together provide full-time hours and benefits eligibility for the 20262027 school year only. The afternoon Early Childhood assignment is part of a temporary staffing model and will only be offered this school year. The Floating Substitute Assistant Teacher position is separate and is not part of this temporary staffing arrangement. The combined full-time schedule applies only to the 20262027 school year. For the current school year, the combined assignments are eligible for full-time benefits, including medical, dental, retirement, long-term disability, AD& D, life insurance, flexible spending, paid holidays and scheduled school breaks, sick days, and personal days. THE POSITION Under the direction of program leadership and with the guidance of classroom Head Teachers, the Assistant Teacher supports children academically, socially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually in accordance with Chiaravalles curriculum and Montessori philosophy. The employee works collaboratively with faculty and staff and adapts to changing classroom assignments and daily staffing needs. Provide substitute classroom coverage, prioritizing Toddler staffing needs and supporting other program levels when Toddler classrooms are fully staffed. Provides support in the morning with our breakfast program. Support Head Teachers in implementing the curriculum and individualized learning plans consistent with Montessori principles. Establish meaningful, respectful relationships with children and support their independence and development. Prepare and maintain clean, orderly learning environments with appropriate materials and supplies. Supervise children during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, naptime, recess, and outdoor activities as assigned. Provide consistent afternoon supervision and support in the Early Childhood nap room. Use age-appropriate guidance consistent with school policy and Montessori practices. Communicate effectively with teachers and administrators, maintain confidentiality, and follow school safety policies and procedures. Participate in required meetings, training, and professional development, and accurately record time worked each day.
