Amsted Rail in Granite City, Illinois is seeking a Human Resources Intern. This role is responsible for assisting with daily HR operations and projects.

What you will do:

  • Assist with recruitment activities, including posting jobs and screening resumes
  • Support onboarding and orientation for new employees
  • Maintain and update employee records in HR systems
  • Help organize employee engagement and wellness initiatives
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries regarding HR policies and benefits
  • Assist with compliance documentation and reporting
  • Participate in HR meetings and training sessions
  • Prepare HR-related communications and materials
  • Support payroll and benefits administration tasks
  • Contribute to special HR projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • No prior HR experience required; previous internship or office experience preferred
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Navigating complex HR regulations and compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Bilingual abilities
  • Adapting to a challenging and repetitive manufacturing environment

What we offer you:

  • Summer interns generally start between $20.00 - $24.00/hour
  • The role is on-site 5 days a week Monday - Friday
  • Starting hourly salary will vary by location, qualifications, prior experience and year you graduate
