Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Primarily at the Organizational level, supervises and directs all materials, purchasing, and related associate functions to ensure lowest total cost, quality, and effective inventory management. Assures continued delivery of sustainable, integrated materials management processes. Specific accountabilities with respect to the receipt, storage and preservation, of materials.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervises and reviews acquisition of materials, supplier negotiation, inventory control, material staging of production jobs, warehousing of materials and machine shop as well as manages freight costs.
• Develops/implements enhancements and/or processes to achieve maximum efficiencies, control of materials, purchasing, and related areas.
• Interacts with other locations to assess opportunity to pool resources and achieves quantity discounts.
• Assists in the development and implementation of inventory control and/or reduction programs. Establishes processes designed to maintain inventories at approved levels.
• Supervises staff, materials, inventory, and/or purchasing professionals.
• Serves on functional, divisional, and/or corporate projects as required.
• Suggests applications for reducing costs while improving material availability.
• Supervises the operations of Kan-Ban, Supply, Inventory, Scheduling, Receiving, and Shipping.
• Encourages suppliers to utilize continuous improvement programs that help satisfy Altec quality standards.
• Negotiates lead times.
• Assists in developing criteria for suppliers.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
• Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
• Enforces safety and sanitation regulations.
• Reviews records of associates' attendance and hours worked.
• Plans and establishes work schedules and assignments to meet production goals.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Four-Year Bachelor degree required.
• Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Mgt. degree preferred.
• Three years supervisory applicable experience required.
• Microsoft Office suite experience preferred. Excel & Word required.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures.
• MBA and/or APICS or NAPM certified preferred.
OTHER POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
