Position Summary

The Plant of Eden Operations is responsible for formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources at the organization’s primary production facility in Eden, Idaho. This individual is responsible for building and managing a successful team while meeting the goals for the department. The Plant Manager of Eden Operations must create and implement budgets, policies, and goals in order to ensure the highest productivity in a safe environment. This position profile identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance. It cannot encompass all specific job tasks that an employee may be required to perform. Employees are required to follow any other job-related instructions and perform job-related duties as may be required by his/her supervisor.

Key Performance Areas (Essential Functions of the Position)

  • Participates in creating a strategic plan for Eden Operations.
  • Implements plans by creating action plans, directing, and adjusting production and quality activities.
  • Directs, leads, and guides employee activities to ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Participates in recruiting, hiring, training, assigning, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Manages employee performance by communicating job expectations and providing employee feedback, conducting performance reviews, and implementing employee development programs. Encourages and leads employees to create performance management systems for their direct reports.
  • Creates and implements yearly budget and meets the Eden Operations financial objectives by reviewing financial statements and monitoring spending.
  • Analyzes variances in budget and takes corrective action or adjusts as needed.
  • Manages and directs all activities to maintain employee safety.
  • Follows existing policies and creates new policies in order to be proactively engaged in fostering incident-free/accident-free workplace.
  • Supervises client visits in order to ensure good representation of Standlee Forage quality measures.
  • Works closely with management and HR department to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Coaches and develops supervisory staff.
  • Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and improvement.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
  • Determine staffing requirements and oversee personnel processes.
  • Monitors business to ensure that it is efficiently and effectively providing needed services while staying within budgetary limits.

  • Annually Production of 250, 000 tons of Forage products
  • Support Forage Sales of ~$105, 000, 000 USD
  • Supervise Direct Labor – 100 employees (RFT, PT, Seasonal) @ annual labor expense of $4, 000, 000 USD

Experiences / Education Requirements
The Plant Manager of Eden Operations should possess the following experiences and education.

  • At least five years’ experience in high level management and/or operations management position.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in upper-level Operations Management (specifically forage).
  • At least 5-10 years’ general Ag experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Working Conditions

Work includes equipment operations, some lifting of product or equipment around 125#, office work, extensive walking (throughout plant), and some driving. Work hours vary significantly depending on the season but may run 7 days/week and 24 hours/day during peak operation. May spend approximately 40% of time at a desk and in an office environment, and 60% moving throughout the facility. Work includes being outside in any type of weather and may include circumstances of extreme weather.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to Standlee offices in Twin Falls and to other Standlee operations facilities (by air) is necessary.
