YMCA of Greater Des Moines is hiring a Camp Program Instructor | Y Camp in Boone, IA. This is a full-time position.

JOB LOCATION: Y Camp in Boone, Iowa SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Variable PAY RANGE: $11.50-$12.50 /hour CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: August 19, 2026-Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. POSITION SUMMARY: As a Camp Program Instructor you will lead children and adults in a variety of activities such as archery, climbing wall, and hiking. You will also have the opportunity to teach them skills such as stream ecology, fire building, and survival. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead assigned programs (both outdoor and indoor), and basic lessons for groups that visit the Y Camp.Assist the other Instructors, Coordinators, and/or Directors with developing and implementing the lesson plans to align with educational standards to challenge and motivate the participantsAbility to follow and implement curriculum provided by others.Address participant and / or group leaders concerns and notify supervisor.Relate to individual participants or group leaders on a professional basis at all times.Monitor and maintain equipment.Ensure safety of participants and group leaders by enforcing policies and disciplinary rules.Report specific problems or needs to the supervisor or designated staff person.Create an environment that welcomes all types of individuals from varying levels and backgroundsCommunicate with participants and group leaders about information regarding the programming activities and goalsKnow emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
