Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Drive the creation, maturation, and evolution of an integrated Maximus Enterprise Architecture practice, including governance, data standards, reference architectures, capability models, and enterprise roadmaps.
- Guide teams across programs, platforms, and business units in adopting common patterns, shared services, authoritative data sources, and enterprise-wide data and technology practices.
- Lead the development, evolution, and maintenance of a real-time or near-real-time core enterprise data set that Maximus employees and leadership consume and contribute to daily-ensuring it is complete, correct, relevant, timely, and actionable.
- Define and maintain enterprise principles, guardrails, and reference models across business, data, application, and technology domains.
- Train stakeholders on how to use the enterprise architecture to identify capability gaps, redundancies, and modernization opportunities across programs and business segments.
- Assist the data team in defining and enforcing enterprise data standards, data domains, and authoritative data sources.
- Participate in the creation of the enterprise data catalog, including metadata, lineage, stewardship models, and taxonomy management.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to guide the enterprise data pipeline strategy, ensuring reusability, interoperability, and alignment with governance standards.
- Drive adoption of enterprise data-sharing patterns, semantic consistency, and data quality frameworks.
- Work with stakeholders to define target-state application portfolios, integration patterns, shared platforms, and modernization pathways.
- Provide enterprise-wide guidance on platform rationalization, reuse of common services, and legacy modernization.
- Partner with the data team to establish standards for API governance, integration architectures, microservices strategy, and event-driven patterns.
- Work with the data team and key stakeholders to build and maintain enterprise technology standards spanning cloud, security, infrastructure, DevSecOps, and shared platform services.
- Establish rules for implementing emerging technologies with meaningful enterprise impact, and develop adoption recommendations, pilots, and guardrails.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 12+ years of relevant professional experience required.

- Must show a proven track record establishing and maturing enterprise architecture practices; developing reference architectures, capability models, and enterprise roadmaps; and guiding cross-organizational adoption of standards, shared services, and authoritative data sources.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Enterprise Architecture Development, Strategy & Governance

- Contribute to the definition, execution, and maturity of the Maximus Enterprise Architecture framework under the guidance of the Senior Principal EA.

- Maintain and enhance enterprise principles, guardrails, and reference models across architecture domains.

- Participate in EA review boards, architecture working groups, and governance forums; prepare analyses and recommendations for senior architectural leadership.

- Assess programs and projects for alignment to enterprise strategies, standards, and target-state architectures.

- Support the development of enterprise capability maps, domain models, and multi-year transformation roadmaps.

Business & Capability Architecture

- Partner with business units to document, analyze, and refine business capabilities, processes, and value streams.

- Identify capability gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for simplification and modernization.

- Translate business strategy into target-state capability models and solution-agnostic architectural recommendations.

- Support adoption of enterprise capability frameworks across programs and delivery teams.

Enterprise Data Architecture

- Work with the data organization to apply and evolve enterprise data standards, data domains, and data governance models.

- Participate in the creation and maintenance of the enterprise data catalog, data lineage, and metadata frameworks.

- Collaborate with data engineering teams to guide the design of data pipelines and shared data assets that align with enterprise interoperability and governance.

- Promote enterprise data-sharing patterns, authoritative data sources, and improved data quality practices across teams.

- Information, Application & Integration Architecture

- Assist in defining target-state application portfolios, integration architectures, and shared service patterns.

- Conduct architectural assessments to identify consolidation, rationalization, and modernization opportunities.

- Work with integration and platform teams to support API governance, microservices architectures, and event-driven design.

- Recommend solution patterns that maximize reuse, interoperability, and compliance with enterprise principles.

Technology Architecture & Modernization

- Support the development of enterprise technology standards across cloud, infrastructure, security, and platform services.

- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide input on enterprise adoption, pilot initiatives, and architecture guardrails.

- Partner with DevSecOps, security, and platform teams to promote standardized enterprise technology practices.

Enterprise Advisory & Leadership

- Provide architectural guidance to project teams, product owners, program managers, and technical leaders.

- Communicate architectural decisions, options, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Advocate for enterprise-first thinking, encouraging alignment to shared standards, reusable patterns, and enterprise roadmaps.

- Act as a trusted advisor, escalating enterprise-wide issues and risks to the Senior Principal EA as appropriate.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements

- 10+ years of experience across enterprise architecture domains (business, data, application, technology).

- Occasional travel to Maximus HQ or Client site

- Demonstrated experience designing architectures for complex systems and multi-program environments.

- Working knowledge of enterprise data architecture, metadata management, and data governance.

- Strong understanding of business processes, capability modeling, operating models, and strategic alignment.

- Experience developing technical roadmaps and supporting modernization initiatives.

- Ability to clearly communicate architectural guidance, risks, and recommendations.

- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment without formal authority.

- Experience contributing to or supporting enterprise architecture governance and standards.
