The Laboratory Analyst ensures food safety and quality by performing QC laboratory analysis including but not limited to: chemical, physical, and microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, and environmental samples. This role supports compliance with regulatory and company standards, provides technical expertise, and maintains accurate documentation for traceability.

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts testing (as assigned) including: chemical, physical, and microbiological testing on raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and environmental swabs.
  • Participate in Proficiency testing for food safety critical tests in conjunction with 3rd party qualified laboratories.
  • Document and report all test results accurately; maintain traceability for GMP and GLP compliance.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment; ensure proper quality control.
  • Manage instrument installations and qualifications per internal site procedures; document and requalify instrumentation as necessary.
  • Support allergen, gluten, and special testing programs.
  • Inspect and approve incoming raw materials and labels for compliance with specifications. Participate in ingredient approval and troubleshooting during production.
  • Maintain safe and clean laboratory environment; manage chemical inventory and hazardous waste.
  • Assist in developing and updating SOPs and work instructions.
  • Serve as a resource for QA training and cross-functional support.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor’s in food science, chemistry, biology, or related field.

Certifications / Licenses / Specialized Trainings Required:

HACCP training required; SQF Practitioner certification preferred.

Total Yrs. of Experience Required:

2 years of experience in food analysis and microbiological techniques

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with JD Edwards or similar systems a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
