Responsibilities

Come join the industry leader in composite body manufacturing! Altec is currently looking for an Engineering Manager at our manufacturing facility in Osceola, IA.

Purpose of POsition

The Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership, technical direction, and organizational development within the body engineering group. You will establish priorities, improve departmental efficiency and quality, foster a culture of innovation, and ensure customer satisfaction while supporting both internal and external partners.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop, communicate, and execute strategic direction for the Engineering department.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach engineers and supervisors in performance, capability growth, and professional development.
  • Oversee resource planning, workload balancing, and manpower management.
  • Build leadership strength within the team to support future organizational growth.
  • Own the design, development, and release of composite body structures and related components.
  • Drive innovation in composite design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, composite technologies, materials advancements, and best practices.
  • Ensure all engineering processes, procedures, and documentation are implemented and followed.
  • Own customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers.
  • Actively support internal/external suppliers, production processes, and cross ‑ functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and leadership groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • 4-year Bachelor Degree Required. Engineering Discipline Preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years' experience after earning the Degree, two (2) of which with Direct Reports
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team ‑ building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering process ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying.
