Position Description:

Historically, the role of IT has been to provide a reliable ecosystem to run the business, drive efficiencies and reduce costs. These areas remain integral, however, driven by the quickening pace of innovation, IT must evolve, proactively partnering with the business to enable new digital business models that power new types of customer engagement and value opportunities.

A successful Product Owner at Elanco is a highly motivated individual, passionate about collaborative problem solving who proactively identifies opportunities and drives tangible outcomes. A strong combination of technical awareness and experience with modern methodologies (e.g Agile) will be essential to the success of this role. Experience dealing with senior stakeholders across the enterprise will be essential to be successful in this role.

Product Description:

The successful candidate will take on product ownership of our ElancoGPT and associated generative AI capabilities. You will partner with our platform Architect and Engineering team and external partners to deliver this cutting-edge capability and generate large business impact across our enterprise.

Responsibilities:

Delivery

• The voice of our Generative AI product suite, able to confidently communicate a clear vision and direction and drive excitement with all levels of stakeholders across the business.
• High-level technical insight into LLM’s, how they work and how they can be utilised effectively for different use cases.
• Able to push through the noise to make strong impact to our organisation through this capability suite.
• Action oriented moving a small team through complexity to delivery quickly and at quality.
• Closely collaborate with key business partners, executives, and IT leaders to identify and shape opportunities into a clear and concise roadmap and backlog.
• Work out loud clearly communicating across IT including running product spotlight, sharing interactive updates allowing all the IT org to input and shape on potential opportunities.
• Partner with external providers challenging them on their roadmaps and influencing where possible to get support for Elanco’s needs.
• Day to day product owner expectations including.
  • Responsible for the creation, review and refinement of User Stories and ensuring that they meet a Definition of Ready (DOR) and act as the day-to-day representative of this value.
  • Partner with scrum master on product refinement sessions and using agile practices to help facilitate/structure our app owners & business partner opportunities into a workable plan.
  • Manage a product roadmap for our application products, providing a clear direction on future features, technologies, and opportunities.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure the right outcomes are being met, decisions taken where needed and risks being managed.
  • Facilitate frequent product demos to solicit feedback, recognise achievements and build a culture of positive momentum.
  • Manage the ROI of the product ensuring adoption and making strategic decisions based on value to Elanco.
  • Active collaboration with strategic partners to stay on the cutting edge, active engagement in the open-source communities to stay on top of the technology.

Community

• Be an agile culture ambassador partnering across the organisation to drive open, collaborative and innovation across the organisation.
• Proactively engage with the IT community (internally and externally) across multiple channels, looking to share, represent, educate, and inspire.
• Participate in the agile community serving as a coach alongside other Product Owners, Product Managers and teams to advance our delivery discipline.
• Help drive and support a collaborative, open and agile working culture across teams.
• Actively build and stay informed of emerging delivery, product development and agile practices.
• Innovation: foster an innovation culture with ‘Show don’t tell’ at the heart of all we do.

Basic Qualifications & Key experiences:

• 5-7+ years’ experience as a Product Owner or a similar role.
• Prior history in Engineering or Architecture teams working in a highly technical environment.
• Strong experience managing senior stakeholders at executive level.
• Examples of influencing at an executive level and working in challenging high pressure delivery situations.
• Certified product owner or similar certification preferred.
• Real-world experience working in an agile delivery team.
• Experience eliciting and breaking down needs into actionable user stories.
• Ability to own, prioritise and manage product backlog.
• Comfortable and effective at conveying complex technical challenges into easy to consume explanations for a non-technical audience.
• Experience working in a regulated, multi-agency and international environment advantageous.
• Team player capable of building high performing, collaborative and ownership-driven teams in a highly dynamic environment.

Education Requirements: Degree in Information Technology

Other Information: Occasional travel may be required.
