Denied Party Analyst (L1 Screener)

What is Denied/Restricted Parties Compliance?

A denied/restricted party is a person or company who has had their trade privileges restricted or denied by any of various national or international governing bodies, such as the US Department of State (DOS), the US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the European Union (EU), or the United Nations (UN). Parties have their trade privileges restricted or denied for such reasons as terrorist activity, drug smuggling, suspicion or conviction of illegal activity related to international trade, and other reasons related to national or international security or foreign policy.

Position Summary

As a DP Screener you will conduct 1st level denied party screening of shipment details, reviews origin, destination and/or customers regarding denied/restricted party validation matters to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform 1st Level denied party screening of shipment details by reviewing match information in the Denied Party Application (DPA)
  • Communicates with customers, origin and/or destination locations regarding shipment status and requests for information, all through internal tools (GEMA) through Customer Service.
  • Keep records of internal and external customer interactions: recording details of inquiries and comments, and taking action accordingly
  • Make updates to the Denied Party Escalation Tracker/Log
  • Participate in planning and directing the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations
  • Duties as otherwise assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
    1 year experience in analyst, fraud, data analyst, customer services or equivalent.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), database and web-based applications.
    Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills; courteous and clear telephone voice.
    Fluent English and Spanish language is a requirement.
