Join our R& D team as a Laser Development Engineer, working on the design, development and optimisation of advanced ultrafast and CW laser systems. This hands-on role spans the full product lifecycle-from feasibility and prototyping to detailed design, verification and transfer to manufacturing.

You'll work closely with optical, mechanical, electronics and control-systems specialists to turn early concepts into robust, manufacturable products. Expect a collaborative environment, opportunities to deepen your technical expertise, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge laser technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing teams with technical expertise
  • Contribute to system-level laser design within a multidisciplinary team
  • Collaborate with local and global laser specialists
  • Define specifications and source components

Required Qualifications
  • PhD or equivalent experience in solid-state or fibre-laser technology, or experience in laser development/manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of optics and principles of laser operation in CW and pulses regimes
  • Hands-on experience building or optimising breadboard or production laser systems
  • Proficiency with optical and electrical test equipment
  • General understanding of electronics and control systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of ultrashort-pulse physics, mode-locking, nonlinear optics and dispersion
  • Python programming for data analysis or modelling
  • Familiarity with control systems and circuit-level debugging
  • Experience with optical modelling tools (e.g., Zemax) or custom modelling

What You'll Bring
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to deliver results independently and within teams
  • Clear, confident communication
  • Professionalism and a commitment to high-quality engineering
