Job Title: Deputy Manager - Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Developer

Department: Switchgear Test Engineering

Experience - 3 -6 years

Bachelor's Degree in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering

Location: Vadodara, Gujarat

Job Purpose

To conceptualize, design, and develop Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and test software using the NI LabVIEW platform for electrical switchgear products, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production testing, while driving continuous improvement and technology upgrades.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Test System Design & Development
    • Design and develop automated test machines and control applications using NI LabVIEW.
    • Select appropriate control systems, instrumentation, and safety interlocks for test benches.
    • Develop, enhance, and maintain operator-friendly graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for test applications.
  • Project Execution & Coordination
    • Execute test bench software projects end-to-end, including:
      • Coordination with cross-functional teams to finalize software and test specifications.
      • Software testing and validation at machine supplier locations as per project requirements.
      • Collaboration with hardware engineers for system integration and commissioning.
      • Interaction with Quality teams for calibration, validation, and test bench approval.
      • Conducting shop-floor trials and successful commissioning in production.
      • Preparation of software documentation and conducting operator / maintenance training.
  • Shop Floor & Maintenance Support
    • Provide technical support during test bench trials, breakdowns, and troubleshooting.
    • Support maintenance teams to minimize downtime and restore test systems efficiently.
  • Software Standards & Continuous Improvement
    • Implement source code version control and software change management practices.
    • Upgrade existing test setups to latest hardware and software technologies.
    • Introduce new test concepts and automation techniques to improve productivity and reliability.
    • Achieve test cycle time reduction through software optimization and architecture improvements.
    • Ensure timely implementation of test software changes aligned with product design updates and shop-floor requirements.

    • Test bench commissioning success rate
    • Software reliability and downtime reduction
    • Compliance with safety and quality standards
    • Timely implementation of test and design changes
    • Successful implementation of new technology concepts
    Technical Competencies
    • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in NI LabVIEW application development.
    • Exposure to LabVIEW FPGA-based systems is preferred.
    Mandatory
    • NI LabVIEW programming (Application & FPGA)
    • NI hardware platforms: cRIO, eRIO, cDAQ
    • Understanding of electrical schematics, control panels, and electrical components
    • Working knowledge of databases (MS SQL / MS Access)
    Preferred / Added Advantage
    • NI LabVIEW Certified Developer (CLD)
    • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts in LabVIEW
    • Source code version control using Git

    Work Conditions & Availability

    • Willingness to travel to machine suppliers / system integrators for test software trials, debugging, and project execution as per business urgency.
    • Ability to work in shop-floor and industrial environments.
    • Practical exposure to three-phase voltage and high-current testing environments typical of electrical switchgear and industrial power systems.
    • Strong understanding of electrical hazards, isolation procedures, and safety practices.
