WAVE is currently looking for a day shift Operator to join our team!

Schedule: Day Shift | Monday - Friday
Shift Details: 5am-1pm

General Responsibilities:

The Operator safely produces high-quality aluminum extrusion and light-gauge steel components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Operators may work in different departments and use various machinery based on production needs; however, the core responsibilities of safety, quality, accuracy, teamwork, and meeting deadlines remain consistent. This role requires strong foundational manufacturing experience, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and the flexibility to support changing production priorities. Successful candidates are dependable, quality-focused team members who contribute to continuous improvement and the organization's culture.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and follow work orders, blueprints, technical drawings, written and verbal instructions, production schedules, and safety requirements.
  • Set up and safely operate assigned fabrication equipment, machinery, hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment to process aluminum extrusion, light-gauge steel, and related materials.
  • Lay out, cut, fabricate, assemble and prepare materials and components to required measurements, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Perform dimensional measurements, quality checks, and visual/surface inspections of materials, components, and finished products; identify and report defects or nonconforming work.
  • Complete required production, quality, maintenance, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
  • Conduct pre-use machine safety inspections and perform assigned daily, weekly, and monthly operator-level preventive maintenance.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including required PPE use, proper lockout/tagout practices during adjustments or repairs, and verification that safety equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Meet production goals and tight project deadlines while maintaining quality, accuracy, efficiency, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area, including assigned equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Remain flexible to changing assignments, equipment, and department needs; assist coworkers, participate in cross-training, and learn new processes as required.
  • Participate in LEAN manufacturing, continuous-improvement initiatives, team communication, and the organization's WAVE culture.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, industrial production, or a related environment.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of machine operation, fabrication processes, material handling, and safe work practices.
  • Experience working with aluminum extrusion, light-gauge steel, or comparable metal materials preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, production instructions, and basic written correspondence.
  • Ability to use measuring devices and perform dimensional, visual, and surface-quality inspections to required tolerances.
  • Working knowledge of machine processes and common material defects.
  • Ability to accurately complete production and quality documentation.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve routine problems involving standardized processes and a limited number of variables.
  • Ability to work effectively under time-sensitive production schedules while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, adaptability, and dependability.
  • Ability to lead by example and assist with training or coaching others when needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the work shift.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery, moving materials, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, arm guards, safety vests and safety footwear.
