Description:

Respiratory Therapist II


The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and evaluation‑based treatment for patients with complex or critical needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, independence, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments. The RT II also supports patient and family education, mentors new staff, and contributes to a safe, high‑quality care environment.


Key Responsibilities

Perform respiratory assessments and determine therapy needs
• Administer aerosolized medications, bronchial hygiene therapy, oxygen, and medical gas treatments
• Manage ventilators, including weaning and waveform interpretation
• Perform airway management (intubation, extubation, tracheostomy care and changes)
• Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases
• Assist with invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac services, and pulmonary diagnostics
• Maintain accurate documentation and electronic orders
• Promote patient safety, evidence‑based practice, and performance improvement
• Educate patients, families, students, and new employees
• Support a positive, team‑oriented work environment

Requirements


• Education: Associate’s in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor’s preferred
• Licensure/Certifications:
• Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Respiratory Care Professional license
• BLS
• ACLS
• Experience: 0–2 years clinical experience, including at least 6 months in critical care

Skills: Strong communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and computer proficiency
