The Business Excellence Specialist is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Johnson & Johnson Production System (JJPS) which will deliver Best in Class performance through a highly engaged workforce. The Specialist will play a leading role in fostering a continuous improvement culture and achieving sustainable high standards of manufacturing performance. They will also support the execution of the Digital Strategy Roadmap for the site and partner with the Digital Operations & Technical Services (DOTS) organization as the support organization for the portfolio of digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the embedding and sustaining of the “Managing Site Performance” business process standard on site.

  • Own and lead the site Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) system, and embed and improve its use within the site.

  • Lead JJPS Tactical Implementation Plans (TIPs) and coach Initiative Leads on JJPS methodology.

  • Mentor on how to engage people through kaizen teams, improvement ideas generation, Business Excellence (BE) certifications, and other activities.

  • Develop and deploy plant-wide lean training modules.

  • Develop and drive the Yellow Belt program on site.

  • Drive the Lean philosophy throughout the site by supporting, mentoring, and coaching employees to enhance their understanding and knowledge of Lean principles and techniques.

  • Maximize the involvement of employees in process improvements.

  • Ensure all JJPS changes are conducted to the highest of standards in a safe, compliant, and effective manner.

  • Facilitate RCPS, Value Stream Mapping and other Lean related activities on site.

  • Sponsor cross-functional teams towards a process driven organizational culture.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s/University or equivalent degree required, preferably within Supply Chain, Engineering, or other science-related fields

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Required:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience within Supply Chain, Operations, and/or Manufacturing

  • Demonstrated experience and track record of continuous improvement / process improvement

  • Excellent influencing (without direct authority), collaboration, and communication, including outstanding oral and written presentation skills and an ability inspire trust and quickly build credibility

  • Strong relationship development, conflict resolution, and team building instincts

Preferred:

  • Experience, training, and/or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or Process Excellence

  • Process Engineering experience directly supporting manufacturing

  • Work experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, or similarly regulated manufacturing industry

  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements in a pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing environment

OTHER:

  • May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel
