Your Job The Georgia-Pacific Projects and Engineering team is looking to hire a
Technology Platform Leader to support the Dixie Cups and Cutlery operation, as part of the Converting Technology Platform Team. The ideal Platform Leader will have a strong background in the operation and maintenance of cup forming, thermoforming, and injection molding equipment to guide the advancement of our operation to its most competitive state. This individual will primarily be responsible for developing the strategy to determine the cups and cutlery technology platforms that achieve business needs and enable a high-performing, cost-competitive operation.
This role will support the Dixie facilities in
Lexington, KY and Leominster, MA, as part of GP's Consumer Products Dixie manufacturing operation, producing cups, lids, and cutlery finished goods.
This position will primarily support the Dixie Cup facility in Lexington, KY and the candidate must be willing to travel to the site a minimum of 50% of the time. Our Team The GP Converting Technology Platform Team leads strategic efforts, in collaboration with our manufacturing facilities, capability teams, and preferred-partner OEMs and suppliers, to drive results for our Consumer Products Business by executing technology platforms, as part of a disciplined operations framework. Implementation of standard equipment design, common operating supplies and materials, and standard procedures and asset strategies lead to superior operational and business performance, while supplying product solutions that provide the quality that our customers and consumers expect.
What You Will Do - Understanding the strategic fit of each asset within the technology platform and the manufacturing footprint
- Evaluating platform asset performance versus competitive internal and external benchmark standards and facilitating efforts with manufacturing sites to close gaps towards OEE% (overall equipment efficiency) target
- Coordinating with facility resources to develop, implement, and maintain common process centerlines to efficiently produce similar products across the technology platform
- Assisting in troubleshooting and assembling technical resources to resolve complex performance issues
- Leading the development, implementation, and support for execution of asset strategies to operate and maintain equipment across technology platform to improve reliability and performance
- Implementing standard equipment design, materials, procedures, and operating practices across the technology platform, and utilize a MOC process to control and communicate changes
- Documenting, maintaining, and cataloging operating and maintenance standards, best practices, asset strategies, drawings, and other key documents specific to the technology platform
- Identifying, challenging, and removing waste in both the operation of platform equipment and the capital project execution process
- Developing, building, and maintaining relationships with preferred-partner OEMs
- Establishing and leading a Community of Practice (CoP) to promote knowledge sharing across the technology platform to fully leverage innovation ideas and process improvements
- Understanding if capabilities of platform equipment continue to meet needs of business and product design
- Evaluating and building knowledge of emerging technologies and innovative solutions that create competitive advantages and appropriately incorporate new applications into investment strategy for technology platform
- Developing, managing, and executing the overall strategic investment portfolio for the technology platform through coordination with CoP, mill and business operations, business teams, R& D, and engineering
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop business cases and venture summaries for investments and product improvements necessary within the technology platform
- Supporting capital project execution for equipment within the technology platform through design and development of equipment specifications and asset strategies, factory acceptance testing (FAT), installation, check-out, commissioning, start-up, turn-over acceptance testing (TAT), and continuous improvement.
- Rapid application of successful equipment upgrades or modifications across the platform equipment asset base to maintain operating consistency and realize benefits sooner
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) - Experience in cup forming equipment operation and engineering
- Experience leading and facilitating process improvement teams
- Experience supporting capital investment projects, including exposure to various available cup and lid equipment technologies in the market, development of equipment specifications, procurement of equipment, and leading efforts for factory acceptance tests, check-out, commissioning, and start-up of equipment
- Ability to support 12-hour night or day shifts during trials, outages, or start-ups as business needs require
- Ability to travel at minimum 50%, as dictated by business needs
What Will Put You Ahead - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related experience
- Experience in thermoforming equipment operation and engineering
- Experience in injection molding equipment operation and engineering
- Experience in developing asset strategies (PMs, spare parts, lubrication, etc.)
- Experience in technician and manufacturing engineer skill development
- Experience in equipment data acquisition to quantify losses
- Experience working in a technology platform-based system
For this role, we anticipate paying $135k - $175k per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
