Your Job

Georgia-Pacific, LLC (GP) is now hiring a Production Operations Manager for its McDonough, Georgia Mailers facility. The Operations Manager will oversee the RUM equipment Operations Department and will be responsible for leading four production teams to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment consistent with a Principled Based Management (PBM) philosophy and framework.

The Operations Manager is also responsible for supervising and coordinating production efforts that result in sustained improvement in all associated work processes including Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance, product stewardship, reliability, quality, production, and costs.

Typical work schedule would be weekdays from 6am-4pm. Hours will vary and some weekends may be essential to the success of operations.

What You Will Do
  • Provide leadership to Operations Teams striving for compliance in safety, health, environmental, and quality. Lead as Waste Champion for facility.
  • Review safety procedures to ensure compliance with company standards; ensuring that equipment is functioning properly, and work environments are safe for team members.
  • Coach, oversee, train, and develop Operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical & interpersonal communication skills.
  • Participate in the hiring process of new hourly operators to replace those who leave the company.
  • Identify and align operational priorities with commercial business vision - ensure production and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest costs, consistent with customer requirements, company plans and profit objectives.
  • Scheduling operators for production shifts and overseeing daily operations to ensure various operations metric goals are met.
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct cycle counts to ensure that the right amounts of materials are on hand to meet demand.
  • Partner with plant and business level leadership teams to enhance facility performance and metrics - lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and develop innovative practices, methods and procedures that add value for the facility.
  • Create and maintain cohesive production teams and provide development to Frontline Operators and Shift Supervisors. Maintain a positive work environment for all team members. Spend time on the floor engaging with team members and oversee manufacturing processes as appropriate.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience within a manufacturing, production, industrial or military environment
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Previous experience using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills
  • Previous experience moderating meetings and training sessions
  • Previous experience setting and achieving production and continuous improvement goals
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in manufacturing, business, engineering, or related field
  • Previous experience within a corrugated and/or converting manufacturing facility
  • Previous experience with ERP software systems, such as Kiwi, MP2, PLEX, etc
  • Previous experience and knowledge of equipment maintenance, planning/scheduling, supply chain management, quality, 5S & housekeeping, and packaging materials processes
  • Previous experience using change management skills to challenge the status quo
