Your Job Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Data Engineer to help build, operate, and improve the enterprise data pipelines and cloud infrastructure that enable analytics, automation, and operational decision-making across the business.
In this role, you will work hands-on with AWS services, Python, SQL, and modern DevOps practices to deliver reliable, scalable, and observable data solutions. You will partner closely with analytics, data science, and operations teams to support AI-enabled automation, improve data quality, and ensure trusted access to data across the enterprise.

Our Team You will join Georgia-Pacific's Enterprise Data and Predictive Analytics Operations team, which is responsible for operating and evolving the data platforms that support analytics, advanced modeling, and AI use cases across the organization. The team works collaboratively with engineering, analytics, and business partners to deliver resilient data solutions that create long-term value.
What You Will Do - Build, operate, and improve data pipelines and AWS-based data lake components that support analytics and automation use cases
- Develop and maintain data transformations using Python, SQL, and related tools to ensure reliable and timely data availability
- Operate core AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, ECS, RDS, and CloudWatch in production environments
- Support real-time and near-real-time data needs for analytics users and distributed engineering teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, infrastructure, performance, and reliability issues
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and failure-detection capabilities for data pipelines and analytics systems
- Contribute to AI-enabled automation efforts by enabling data access, integrations, and operational workflows
- Apply Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices to support secure, repeatable, and scalable deployments
- Document data pipelines, system behavior, and operational standards to support long-term sustainability
- Partner with analytics, data science, and operations teams to understand data needs and deliver practical solutions
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) - Experience building and operating data pipelines in a cloud-based environment
- Knowledge of Python and SQL for data transformation, querying, and pipeline development
- Experience working with AWS data services (such as S3, Glue, Athena/Redshift, Lambda, ECS/EKS) or equivalent cloud platforms
- Experience applying data quality practices, including validation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices for deploying and operating data systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in distributed data and cloud environments
- Willingness to work collaboratively across engineering, analytics, and operations teams
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support team and business needs
What Will Put You Ahead - Experience supporting AI, Generative AI, or agent-based automation workflows
- Familiarity with data observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana or Dynatrace
- Experience with streaming or near-real-time data platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, NATS, or similar)
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, Fargate)
- Experience developing internal dashboards or data monitoring interfaces using React, TypeScript, or similar tools
- Prior experience supporting manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial analytics environments
