Associate Category Leader to support category strategy execution and day-to-day sourcing activities across Process Equipment and related spend categories. This role blends
category management fundamentals with hands-on sourcing execution and is designed to build the skills and experience needed to grow into a future
Category Leader role.
In this position, you will manage
smaller or less complex categories and sourcing initiatives, while supporting senior Category Leaders through data analysis, opportunity identification, process management, and execution of category strategies at the facility and operational level. You will play a key role in translating strategy into action, supporting plant needs, resolving day-to-day sourcing issues, and strengthening the overall effectiveness of the SS& P organization.
This role is based at GP Center in Downtown Atlanta, offers a hybrid work schedule, and will travel ~10-25%.

Our TeamGeorgia-Pacific's Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS& P) organization is responsible for the strategic category management, sourcing, and procurement of critical supplies and materials supporting more than 140 locations across the United States. SS& P is undergoing a transformation focused on building stronger category management capabilities, improving decision-making through data and analytics, and partnering more closely with operations to deliver sustainable value.
This role offers broad exposure to sourcing execution, category management, supplier engagement, and operational partnership, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to grow their procurement and commercial capabilities.
What You Will Do- Support Category Leaders in the development and execution of category strategies and sourcing plans
- Help translate category strategies into actionable plans at the facility and operational level
- Manage smaller categories, sub-categories, or discrete sourcing initiatives with appropriate guidance
- Lead and support competitive sourcing events, negotiations, and supplier selections for assigned categories or initiatives
- Address day-to-day sourcing, supplier, and pricing issues that arise for operations
- Support implementation of contracts, pricing changes, and sourcing decisions at facilities
- Analyze spend, pricing, and market data to identify cost, value, risk, and compliance opportunities
- Support should-cost analysis, benchmarking, and financial modeling to inform sourcing decisions
- Track and report category spend, savings, supplier performance, and strategy adherence
- Support sourcing and category management processes, tools, and standard work
- Help identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency across the team
- Assist with change management and continuous improvement initiatives within SS& P
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and other internal stakeholders to understand needs and support execution
- Support supplier performance management, issue resolution, and risk identification
- Build foundational supplier and stakeholder relationship management skills
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)- 2-5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, operations, finance, engineering, or a related analytical or commercial role
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into insights and recommendations
- Experience supporting sourcing events, supplier interactions, or operational problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a cross-functional environment
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-25%
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field
- Exposure to manufacturing, plant operations, maintenance, or engineering environments
- Experience with spend analysis, cost modeling, or sourcing analytics
- Familiarity with category management concepts such as TCO, should-cost, or supplier performance management
- Interest in developing into a broader category management or strategic sourcing role
