Position OverviewThe Technical Inside Sales Representative is responsible for managing customer accounts, supporting outside sales efforts, and providing technical solutions to meet customer needs. This role requires strong product knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. The Technical Inside Sales Representative will serve as the primary internal point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities - Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate quotes, pricing, and lead times.
- Collaborate with outside sales team to develop new business opportunities and support existing customer accounts.
- Prepare and process sales orders, purchase orders, and customer quotes.
- Provide technical product knowledge and application support to customers.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source products, confirm availability, and manage delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate customer records, order history, and sales activity in the CRM/ERP system.
- Assist with inventory management and product availability checks.
- Build strong relationships with customers by delivering excellent service and follow-up.
- Stay current on product lines, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
Qualifications - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of inside sales, technical sales, or customer service experience, preferably in industrial distribution, automation, or controls.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP or CRM systems a plus.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with a customer-first mindset.
