POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Atlanta Fed’s Community and Economic Development Department supports the central bank’s mandate of stable prices and maximum employment by helping improve the economic opportunity of low-and moderate-incomepopulationsand underserved placesfor a stronger economy for all Americans.To this end, the Department seeks a Community and Economic Development Research Advisor/Senior Advisortoproduceoriginalquantitativeresearch papersandreports ontopics related toaffordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamicsaffectinglow- and moderate-income populations.

TheAdvisor/Senior Advisor establishesanannual research agendaaligned withtheCommunity and Economic Developmentmission andstrategy; contributes totheBank's objective ofremaininga knowledge centerfor applied researchby writing; givesspeeches and talksto outside audiences; andcollaborateson research projectswith Community and Economic Development colleagues, research economists, and other Bank staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Writing

  • Leads research design and writing ofquantitativeresearch onaffordable housingtopics.Identifies new researchopportunities and proposesaresearch agenda.

  • Produceswritten reports for publication inthe Department’sDiscussionPapersandshort-formpublications and mayauthor academic journal publicationsas appropriate.

Engagement and Translation of Research

  • Translates quantitative research into actionable insights for housing stakeholders throughout the Sixth District.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with other researchers and practitionersinsupportthe Department's research and engagement strategy.

Monitoring and Analysis

  • Through data analysis and a network of community contacts, contributes tothe regular monitoring of affordable housing trends andrelatedissues in the Sixth District.

  • BriefsBank leadership on Sixth District affordable housing trends andrelatedissuesto enhance understanding of barriers and opportunities experienced bylow-andmoderate-income populations.

Departmental Engagement

  • MentorsCommunity and Economic Development analystsand staff.

  • Contributesto the overall research environment byattendinginternalseminarsandproviding feedback on other’s work.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Advanceddegree inPublicPolicy, Economics, or a relatedquantitativesocial science fieldor commensurateresearchexperience inanaffordable housing topical area.

  • Experienceindependentlydesigning and completingresearch projects.

  • Establishedrecord of applied and/or scholarly publicationon topics related toaffordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge ofadvanced quantitativeresearchmethods.

Preferred

  • Ph.D.inPublic Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field.

  • Experience communicating research to a broader audience of practitioners and policymakers.

Additional Requirements:
