Traveling Construction Foreman – Lead Regional Steel Erection & Metal Framing Projects

Pay: 27.00–32.00+ per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Full-Time | Weekly Pay | Overtime Potential

Home Base: Columbus, GA preferred, but qualified regional candidates will be considered

Travel: Extensive regional travel throughout the Southeast, Gulf Coast, and Eastern U.S.

The Opportunity

Composite Construction Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Foreman to lead field crews performing structural steel erection and prefabricated light-gauge framing installation on commercial, institutional, government, and federal projects.

This is a field leadership position first.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience and can step into the work when needed, but their primary responsibility is to keep the crew organized, productive, safe, and ahead of schedule.

You will be responsible for understanding project drawings, directing daily work, maintaining accurate layout, coordinating field conditions, monitoring material needs, communicating with project leadership and General Contractors, and making sure the crew executes the work correctly.

What You Will Do

• Lead and supervise field crews performing structural steel erection and prefabricated light-gauge framing installation.
• Plan daily production and assign work based on project priorities, manpower, and schedule.
• Maintain crew accountability, jobsite organization, production, and safety.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, field drawings, details, and approved project plans.
• Perform and verify accurate field layout before installation begins.
• Confirm walls, structural components, embeds, connections, and related work are installed according to approved drawings.
• Identify discrepancies between field conditions and construction drawings before they create rework.
• Coordinate with project managers, company leadership, and General Contractors regarding progress, field conditions, and schedule.
• Identify and document out-of-scope work and communicate potential change-order conditions.
• Monitor material, hardware, tools, and equipment needs far enough in advance to prevent production delays.
• Complete daily reports, timekeeping, photos, work orders, and project documentation using a company-provided tablet and Contractor Foreman.
• Enforce OSHA and company safety standards across the jobsite.
• Perform quality-control checks throughout installation.
• Assist with structural steel erection, welding, framing, or other field work when necessary to keep the project moving.
• Help mobilize crews between regional projects and maintain strong crew performance while traveling.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of construction foreman or equivalent crew-lead experience in structural steel erection, light-gauge structural framing, or closely related commercial construction.
• Proven experience directly supervising and coordinating construction crews.
• Strong ability to read and work from structural drawings, field drawings, and construction details.
• Strong layout skills with the ability to verify dimensions and identify potential field conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage production, manpower, schedules, and jobsite priorities.
• Strong communication skills with field crews, General Contractors, and internal project leadership.
• Ability to anticipate material and equipment needs before they affect production.
• Comfortable using tablets, mobile technology, and digital reporting systems.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively for regional project assignments.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification.
• Rigging and signaling certification.
• Structural steel erection experience.
• Prefabricated light-gauge framing experience.
• Commercial, government, federal, hospital, hotel, student-housing, or similar large-project experience.
• Welding experience.
• AWS or other welding certification.

Note: Welding certification is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong welding experience may be evaluated and certified internally by CCSI.

Travel Expectations

This is a traveling construction position.

• Other Eastern U.S. markets

CCSI provides transportation support and coordinates lodging for traveling crews.

Depending on project location, employees may return home approximately every other weekend or on a longer rotation when air travel is required.
