The District Manager will be responsible for day-to-day sales and operations of the stores, Company Owned as well as Franchise locations, within their assigned area of control. They will accomplish this by leading and managing the Store Directors and store teams within their assigned district(s).

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Previous Multi Unit Retail experience is highly desirable.
  • Role models behaviors for all members of their assigned District Team. Owns and promotes our Code of Conduct and established standards and responsible for developing and maintaining American Freight cultural values across all District Team.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and developing a high functioning and diverse team of store directors in the assigned district.
  • Develops and communicates business plans aimed at optimizing staffing, sales, operational execution, and profitability in the assigned district(s).
  • Responsible for conducting formal store visits and preparing quality action plans, within established guidelines and timeframes, aimed at improving store performance in the assigned stores.
  • Ensures American Freight brand standards are implemented and maintained across the assigned group of stores. This includes validating that all stores are clean, well-merchandised, safe and presentable for customers and employees.
  • Oversees and leads all inventory management functions in the assigned stores to ensure inventory counts are correct, replenishment of product is timely and accurate, clearance/melt product is displayed and priced to sell, shrink is maintained within company established level and inventory turns are in line with company standards.
  • Ensures all stores are staffed to standard and all labor expenses are being managed in accordance with goals/targets.
  • Responsible for working with field and home office support partners to optimize financial performance of his/her assigned district.
  • Leads and oversees training and onboarding of all new hire training for store directors in the assigned district.
  • Manages the overall customer experience for the assigned district
  • Manages, investigates, and resolves all customer service and associate relations issues in the assigned district. Partners with Corporate HR as needed.
  • Achieves all financial metrics for the assigned district, including but not limited to sales, selling metrics, staffing & labor, shrink and damages expense and net income/profit.
  • Ensures execution of all Retail Non-Negotiable Standards across district. This includes but is not limited to staffing standards, brand standards, presentation/signing standards, selling processes, inventory management processes and others as defined.
  • Leads and partners with Asset protection to ensure that all shrink, and safety procedures are being consistently executed in all stores.
  • Assumes other Territory Leadership Responsibilities, such as mentoring/subject matter expert, and etc., at the direction of the Territory Vice President.
  • Other duties as assigned. Is proactive in assuming responsibility for needs of the Store/District/Territory Teams.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must have excellent leadership skills.
  • Must have extensive retail management experience.
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and most weekends.
  • Computer literacy, with Excel/Word/Handheld Unit experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Persuasion, negotiation, and closing skills with previous sales experience a MUST.
