Description:

Provides assistance to the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day-to-day operations of the Health Center in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. At the discretion of Administration, the Assistant Director of Nursing may be required to act as interim Director of Nursing in the event of their absence or vacation position.

  • Develop and maintain nursing care objectives and standards of nursing care practices for this facility in cooperation with the Director of Nursing.
  • Assist the DON by providing daily supervision of the unit managers, supervisors and ECS Coordinator.
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor resident activity and ensure quality resident care.
  • Monitor care activities and documentation to ensure the delivery of nursing care according to the physician's orders, care plans established standards and company policy.
  • Review, update and revise policies including OBRA, OSHA, HIPPA and QA procedures to meet current objectives as well as State and Federal standards.
  • Ensure medication is administered as ordered in accordance with nursing standards and company policies.
  • Monitor associate relations practices to ensure that employees maintain high morale and staff retention through effective communication, prompt problem resolution, positive supervisory practices and positive work environment.
  • Plan and implement nursing orientation, job skills training and in-service education programs in accordance with company policies and regulations. May assist with recruiting of the nursing staff.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and government regulators.

Experience

Required
  • Must have the ability to complete multiple projects.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • 3 year(s): Long-term care experience as a staff nurse in a supervisory position and a background in gerontology as well as strong leadership and management skills.

Licenses & Certifications

Preferred
  • RN
