Director of Drowning Prevention & Program Optimization - Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA

The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA is seeking an innovative, results-oriented leader to serve as our Director of Drowning Prevention & Program Optimization. This is a unique opportunity to lead programs that save lives while also helping the YMCA unlock the full potential of the programs, partnerships, and funding opportunities already available throughout our Association. This position will play a critical role in expanding access to YMCA programs across Hillsborough and East Pasco Counties, with a particular focus on drowning prevention, aquatics, and third-party funded membership programs. The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset to the role by continually asking, How can we do more? How can we reach more people? How can we maximize the resources and opportunities available to us? Approximately 60% of the role will focus on leading and expanding the Tampa Ys drowning prevention initiatives, including Safety Around Water (SAW), Mobile Swim, Safety In Water programs, Adaptive Swim, and other grant- and community-funded aquatics initiatives. This leader will work across YMCA locations and with community partners to expand programming into communities of need, strengthen program quality, increase enrollment, develop best practices, and ensure that every program delivers on its intended outcomes. The remaining focus will be on program optimization and third-party revenue growth. The Tampa Y has significant opportunities through programs such as SilverSneakers, Silver& Fit, Optum One Pass, voucher programs, and other funded membership opportunities. This position will work closely with Executive Directors, Membership Directors, Aquatics leadership, Marketing, Financial Development, and community partners to increase participation, improve utilization, strengthen member engagement, and maximize reimbursement revenue. This is a highly collaborative and visible Association-wide role. Rather than managing a single location, you will travel throughout the Tampa Bay area, working directly with YMCA leaders and teams to identify opportunities, analyze performance, develop action plans, and turn strategy into measurable results. You will use enrollment, participation, utilization, and financial data to identify where opportunities exist and then work alongside local teams to capture them. We are looking for someone who is comfortable moving between strategy and executionsomeone who can analyze a dashboard in the morning, coach a program team in the afternoon, meet with a community partner, and then develop a plan to increase enrollment or program revenue.
