Overview

Florida Detroit Diesel Allison is searching for an Engineer

Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs routine to moderate engineering tasks to assist in product and/or process design and/or field modification. Incumbent will meet the engineering design and documentation by designing, developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing designs and improvements that are ultimately incorporated on existing pieces of field equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Research and review specifications and design requirements.
  • Create, modify, or correct designs to meet specification and all other department requirements.
  • Analyze design for form, fit, and functional requirements.
  • Present, explain, and/or defend design to other departments, customer, and/or vendor.
  • Research and document designs and details per specifications and Company Engineering procedures and practices.
  • Prepare support information for other department requirements.
  • Prepare and present design information, schedules, and budgets to other departments, customer, and/or vendors.
  • Travel to test sites and vendor facilities to provide information and/or technical support as required.
  • Present information and demonstrations to illustrate engineering qualifications, expertise, and/or capabilities to existing and prospective customers.
  • Simulate the given engineering problem with proper numerical model and tools.
  • Evaluate the endurance/maximum loading conditions and determine the acceptable structure strength.
  • Post process analysis results to simplify the data and document for future reference.
  • Write formal technical report to present the technical information and result of an analysis.
  • Help engineers in calculating and determining for design parameters.
  • Conduct safety, reliability and maintainability analysis as required.
  • Develop and document technical testing required to assure compliance to safety, reliability, and human engineering standards.
  • Document test results and all other analysis conducted in the appropriate report in accordance with the requirement specified by the customer.
  • Determine test scopes.
  • Write test plan, report with recommendations.
  • Direct test setup (test fixtures, instrumentation/ data acquisition).
  • Perform test and data analysis.
  • Provide technical field support at test sites.
  • Perform other engineering responsibilities as assigned.
  • May assist lower-level positions.
  • Keep current in industry technologies.
  • Travel may be required.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three to seven years related experience required.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Physics (four-year college or university) strongly preferred.
  • MS Windows application programming
  • HMI design
  • 3+ years current professional experience developing software.
  • Candidate should be proficient with at least one of the following: C, C++, or #.
  • Prior experience in managing various components of operations, including manufacturing, purchasing, and order processing is required.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred. Knowledge of Oracle preferred.
