Description:

Laboratory Testing & Quality Control

Perform routine and specialized asphalt testing, including but not limited to:
  • Gradation
  • Asphalt content
  • Density
  • Marshall or Superpave testing
  • Moisture content
  • Collect and prepare asphalt, aggregate, and soil samples for analysis
  • Record, calculate, and report test results accurately.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure test procedures comply with applicable standards (ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, or client specifications)
  • Maintain testing logs, reports, and quality control documentation
  • Assist in identifying non-conforming materials and report findings to supervisors

Equipment & Lab Maintenance

  • Calibrate, maintain, and clean laboratory testing equipment
  • Ensure the laboratory is organized and complies with safety and housekeeping standards
  • Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed


Knowledge, abilities, physical demands
  • Good computer skills (excel data entry) and general math skills including percentages and significant figure calculations. Conversion between English and metric units.
  • Manual dexterity skills for performing lab testing such as pouring hot viscous liquids into testing molds and bottles.
  • Must be able to set up and use a step ladder with PPE on during sampling. Legible writing skill are required.
  • Use of supplied PPE is required.

Other requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • The facility requires a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) for all employees.
