Overview

The Personal Banking Officer for Commercial Lending is responsible for providing personalized support to Relationship Manager(s) in all phases of customer service, client relationship building, and account maintenance. Assists with the management of relationships, such as with customer transactions, loans, credit analysis, overdrafts, return item processing, customer service inquiries and other general administrative support. The Personal Banking Officer must also comply with all established CIP and BSA/AML requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Relationship Manager(s) with relationship management and growing profitable relationships, in line with the bank's vision; achieve growth of their portfolio by understanding and offering bank products to meet the customer's financial needs.
  • Perform wide range of services including document preparation, account servicing/maintenance (address change, stop payments, account closings, transfers, possible notary, processing check orders), and problem resolution efficiently and consistently.
  • Provide support to the Relationship Manager(s) in establishing Personal and Business accounts; ensure proper documentation and files are complete.
  • Provide support to the Relationship Manager(s) in accepting loan applications, gathering of loan documents, accepting loan payments for both commercial and consumer loans.
  • Profile all customers to ensure KYCs are updated and completed in a timely manner; in order to comply with established BSA/AML requirements.
  • Understand the background and identify the needs of potential customers; clearly communicate solutions and product benefits.
  • Approve or return Overdraft/Uncollected items up to authorized limit.
  • Provide front desk receptionist coverage on a rotating basis every three weeks, or as needed, ensuring professional client experience through welcoming visitors, managing incoming calls, directing communications, providing refreshments, and supporting additional operational needs of the department.
  • Manage and maintain the schedule for the Relationship Manager.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Answer and screen incoming calls, make meeting arrangements, provide administrative support at meetings.
  • Build relationships with internal business partners to obtain and provide qualified referrals.
  • Initiate periodic contacts/check-points with customers to meet KYC standards and provide beneficial services.
  • Understand and adheres to all operational/BSA related controls to ensure the safety and security of our customers and bank assets; completes required regulatory and compliance training in a timely manner
  • Exceed the customer's expectation by providing excellent service and following through on commitments.


Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration; Finance preferred.
  • 2+ years of banking experience required, directly related to servicing customers in retail banking branch operations.
  • Comprehension of banking laws and applicable compliance regulations.

  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.

    Skills and competencies
  • Must be able to understand and implement job related policies and procedures.
  • Must be knowledgeable of internal bank operations (wire transfers, debits/credits and loan payments) and of banking products to cross-sell.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the completion of KYC is required.
  • Experience working in a team (sales and service), and high-quality service advocacy.
  • Computer knowledgeable in MS Office Software, (Excel, Word, and Outlook, Power Point).


  • Preferences
    • Two Year College Degree.
    • 5+ years of banking experience required, directly related to servicing customers in retail banking branch operations.
    • Insurance training, underwriting, BSA Compliance, Ethics, Legal Aspects of Banking (involving real estate closings and loans on default).
